  • BRB Mini 7 (Story)| Claire Hopple
The three amigos continue to take Gregorio's suggestions and dive into one of his personal favorites this week. The story, "RE: West Property," plays with form and characterization while commenting on how we interact and build relationships (or think we do) in the 21st century. A short, often humorous, and wonderfully melancholy story.

  • BRB Mini 5 (Beer) | RavenBeer
The lads get down with the Poe-inspired RavenBeer from Baltimore, Maryland and discuss Daniel's obsession with Poe, why he's a maltman, how Poe may be responsible for modern astrophysics and why everyone should visit the Poe House at least once in their lives. Ah the joys of gothic literature and friendship.

  • BRB Mini 4 (Record) | DAMN.
The triumphant return of Nick Gregorio ladies and gentlemen!! It's a beautiful thing when we're together and it felt great to be back with the trifecta around the table again. This time it was to discuss Kendrick Lamar's already iconic 2017 release "DAMN." The boys dig into the album and heap some praise on a more than deserving record. Oh and we find out where Gregorio has been the past 3 weeks. (Hint: It WASN'T to hang with Karl Pilkington)

  • BRB Mini 3 (Story) | Carmen Maria Machado
Nick M. and Daniel dig into Carmen Maria Machado's piece of speculative/listing fiction aptly titled, "Inventory," from Strange Horizons Literary Journal. An incredibly unique author and journal, both offer take what could be, make them tangible, at times horrifying, and offer a view of oneself and the human experience that is sure to alter and enhance one's perspective. Don't let the device fool you, there is a depth to "Inventory" that few stories, no matter the approach, are able to achieve.

  • BRB Mini 2 (Story) | Kirsten A. Major
Daniel and Nick M. dig into Kirsten Major's reflective short story, "A Brilliant, Stupid, Beautiful fish," from Bodega Literary Journal. A stellar author and journal, both offer a view of what is seemingly commonplace and illuminate the guised and inherent complexity and humanity within.

New Year, New Format! For 2018 we here at Book.Record.Beer have decided to make this a weekly event!
Now, join us EVERY FRIDAY for the first 3 weeks of the month for a short cast focused on a short story (or album). Then the last week of the month our usual cast focused on a book, album, and beer, along with our cover of one of the songs from the record will hit the airwaves.
We hope this new format opens both our listeners and our own eyes and ears to new and interested literature and music. Please don't hesitate to send feedback and suggestions to our social media accounts on both Twitter and Instagram.
And as always, Book.Record.Beer is hosted by Philadelphian teachers, writers and musicians, Nick Mehalick, Daniel DiFranco, and Nick Gregorio and we thank you for listening.

  • REPisode2 @(2SP Brewery) Sartre | HIRS | Delco Lager
As we continue to rep various book, record, and beer spots in and around Philly, we travel to the pride of Delco PA: 2SP Brewery. Proprietor, friend, and former rugby teammate (of Nick M's) Michael Contreras (Burgel on the pitch) welcomes the Book.Record.Beer crew to remote cast live from the brew floor.
This was an incredible experience and one we can't thank Mike enough for. Casting next to gigantic mash tuns, awash in the sweet sweet aroma of fresh wort was a once in a lifetime experience we won't soon forget.
To top it off we had Mike on the cast as guest and resident philosopher which brought the dudes to new mental depths. To be honest this may have been my (Nick M's) favorite hour of discourse thus far.
But don't take my word for it, give a listen and you be the judge. Question Everything my babies!

  • EP8 - Dragon Teeth | Eleven Eleven | Kenzinger
For this episode, join the officially one year old book.record.beer crew for an especially celebratory "regular-ass" cast!
For episode eight we'll unearth a classic novel by Michael Crichton and talk the do's and definitely don'ts of good beer, all while down tuning our instruments to cover Dinosaur Pile Up's very heavy "Bad Penny."
Stay tuned for a new year and a new and improved book.record.beer!

  • REPisode1 @(The Foodery) Shasta Grant | Creepoid | Sons of Ben
Welcome to the first remote book.record.beer cast a.k.a. the "Repisode!" In these quick "pick up and play" casts we will be proudly representing our local Philadelphian and up and coming writers, musicians and drinking establishments as we discuss shorter literary works, our current musical interests and indulge in a local brew supplied by our recording hosts!
For this, our first of many soon to come remote episodes, we will open up the very tightly knit chatbook by Shasta Grant, discuss our current musical fascinations, both local and renowned, and finish with a very Philadelphian Yards Sons of Ben brew.
Much thanks goes out to "The Foodery," our local Manayunk suds shop on Ridge Ave, where this episode was recorded and where we were allowed to nerd out on our three favorite things in the world.
    Cheers!
