Jessie Storrs, who goes by Ms. Stories, works as the Teacher Librarian and Media Instructor at El Centro Jr./Sr. High School located in the Sacramento Youth Detention Facility. There, in partnership with the Sacramento County Office of Ed,  Public Library, and Sacramento Probations Programming Department, she is working to build a school library that meets CA model school library standards with passive and active programming in a safe, positive and rehabilitative learning environment for student residents.

Bringing SEL Into Our Libraries

It is critical that students see themselves in the books they read, finding mirrors, windows, and sliding glass doors into the experiences of others.
