After acknowledging the unfortunate update regarding the people lost at sea while searching for the Titanic, Gio deals with a hair problem and then has Boomer guess what happened to Jerry’s face. Jerry took a golf ball off a tree to the face yesterday and has a few stitches. Gio realizes these topics are not fitting for a Feel Good Friday so Boomer tries to cheer everyone up. Gio remembers feeling powerful yesterday because of a few text messages from people in the industry. Gio purposely ignored last night’s Yankees game in order to keep everyone in a good mood. Before Jerry begins his first update, Boomer asks him to explain what happened to his face. Jerry went golfing with his father and two sons and hit a golf ball into a tree. The ball came right back to whack him in the face. Some blood and a few stitches later, Jerry is back to work with blood-stained sneakers. Boomer thinks Jerry should have finished all 18 holes. An eye-witness at the scene calls in to share his account of what happened. We also hear from a pilot who actually did lose an eye on the golf course but got something good out of the ordeal. Jerry tells us the Yankees lost and the NBA draft was last night. In the final segment of the hour, a caller asks after John Sterling and Jerry took balls to the face, since these things happen in threes, who at WFAN is next and what kind of object will nail them?
The story-at-sea everyone around the country has been following all week had an unfortunate ending on Thursday. Boomer & Gio discuss the known safety issues, how the government knew for days nobody survived and debate if going down in a sub is safer than traveling in one of Elon Musk’s rockets. Then they wonder what the betting lines are for the potential Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg fight. Despite Musk’s size advantage, Boomer and Gio agree Zuckerberg has a shot. Jerry returns for an update but first Boomer breaks down the Musk vs Zuckerberg fight even more, Jerry mentions Jay Glazer's stem cell treatment and the guys remember athletes who went overseas for surgery. Domingo German had an awful start and the Yankees lost 10-2. Boomer wants to know how long the Yankees will keep trotting Josh Donaldson out. Gio guesses for a long time and Aaron Boone seemingly agrees. Boone said Donaldson almost hit a ball well last night. The Mets were off but the catcher they cut, Gary Sanchez, hit another HR. The Rays benched Wander Franco and Victor Wembanyama is officially a member of the San Antonio Spurs. The Thompson twins were taken back-to-back in the top 5 and Jets safety Chuck Clark did tear his ACL. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer asks what the Mets need to do in their 16 games before the All-Star break in order to hook us all back in. Boomer will take 11-5 to get the team to .500 but Gio wants more. Gio doesn’t want to be stuck watching the Mets on national TV broadcasts this weekend and might have other plans.
Boomer asks Gio what he expects from the Yankees in their 16 games before the break. Gio says it does not sound like Aaron Judge expects to be back on the field anytime soon. Boomer has higher expectations for the Yankees in the next 16 games. Gio says it’s acceptable for the team to simply tread water without Judge. The guys agree Josh Donaldson simply should not be out there everyday anymore. Gio’s hair is still a problem two hours later. What is acceptable work attire? Boomer revisits the picture of the new afternoon show and wonders if DA has calmed down? Jerry returns for an update but first we wonder how things would break down at the station if something happened to Jerry. The Mets will play the Phillies in London next June. Jerry has audio from the Mariners blowout win over Domingo German and the Yankees. Was something wrong with German or do guys simply just have bad nights? Nationals manager Davey Martinez had an old-fashioned meltdown after getting ejected. Were the Knicks even at the draft last night? In the final segment of the hour, Gio shares a statement from OceanGate about what happened to their vessel. We hear from one caller who was hit in the face on a golf course twice in two months, one caller who was inspired by the show to think about death and a scuba diver who says the submersible tragedy was easily avoidable.
Should the Knicks be interested in trading for Paul George or Zion Williamson? Gio would love to see them end up with Damian Lillard but doesn’t think it will happen. Boomer thinks Paul George is a reasonable target. Last year we knew the Knicks wanted Jalen Brunson but this offseason we have no idea who they have their eyes on. Jerry returns for an update but first Gio points out that today is the last day of school in New York and teachers celebrate in style. The Yankees had a rough go of it Thursday night against the Mariners. They still won the series. The Mets will play the Phillies in Philadelphia tonight and in London next season. Gio does not understand the appeal of traveling to London to see the Mets. Gio shares a very recent hotel experience. Then Jerry shares a Moment of the Day that his golf incident inspired. In the final segment of the show, the Moose is here! Marc Malusis is in the building and pays a visit.
