Boomer & Gio

We got our first look at Jets QB Cade Klubnik on Friday night. He made some good plays in the small sample size. The Giants season opens up against two powerhouse offenses in the Cowboys and the Rams.

C-Lo is here and we heard Dave Sims on the call as the Yanks beat the Blue Jays as Ben Rice homered after committing a bad error. We heard Howie Rose on the call as Kodai Senga gets the save as they sweep the Nationals. Jaxson Dart is puzzled by why he has to go in the tent every time he gets hit.

We talked about Jazz Chisholm and how he talked a big game prior to the season and hasn’t delivered. We talked about the injuries to Judge, Stanton and Bellinger.

Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti discuss the earl portion of the Giants schedule and if they can have a strong start to the season. Plus:

-Shaun Morash dishes on how badly he needs the Giants to beat the Cowboys Week 1

-Tiki Barber and Shaun on what Jaxson Dart must show in Year 2.

-Craig Carton shares his concerns about the Giants depth to Chris McMonigle

-Craig and C-Mac on why Giants fans are expressing concern over Matt Nagy

-Boomer & Gio on if John Harbaugh can continue his preseason success with the Giants\

Craig Carton and Chris McMonigle were live from Jets training camp this week, speaking at length with Aaron Glenn, Darren Mougey, Breece Hall, and others about the upcoming season and what changes have been made to turn the franchise around. Plus, Tiki Barber and Shaun Morash debate if the Jets should pick up the phone and see if J.J. McCarthy is available.

Boomer and Gio believe Yankee fans take their team's success for granted, especially given where the team stands right now amid several injuries to key players. Plus, Shaun Morash and Tiki Barber debate if Jazz Chisholm Jr. should be benched so Luis Garcia Jr. can play second base when the team is at full strength, while Craig Carton and Chris McMonigle discuss how Giancarlo Stanton will be handled when he returns, as he takes a next step toward being cleared to play.

Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti dive into training camp topics starting with the Giants, including how they can get out to an impressive start this season and both wonder why the team is meeting with Terrion Arnold. Plus:

-Why Gio wants the Jets to beat the Titans Week 1

-Is Boomer known more as an MVP or radio host?

-Some MLB fans expect too much from their teams

-Reaction to Tony Romo and his future with CBS

-Will the Mets try to trade Francisco Lindor in the offseason?

The show kicked off with NFL preseason talk and coaching rants before derailing into Mumford & Sons, the 'Jerry Recco Beach Party,' and the Atlanta Hawks' bird-calling schedule release. A show sheet typo then sparked debates on Boomer’s legacy and old Playboy clubs, followed by updates on a Yankees loss, Jacob deGrom's fatigue, and people who film in public just to argue. Things got wild when Gio pitched a 'Surprise Penis' show idea—prompting endless caller reactions and Boomer bathroom talk—before a shift to The Bombing of Pan Am 103 Netflix show. Finally, the crew wrapped up with more preseason outlooks, sports highlights from Edwin Diaz and Jon Gruden, and 'Surprise Penis' taking home Moment of the Day.

NFL preseason football got underway last night with the Jets playing the Bucs tonight, featuring a great game from Drew Allar for the Steelers while Cam Ward struggled out of the gate. Gio agreed with Gordon Damer that the best move for the Jets is to lose every game, blasted Robert Saleh and Brian Daboll, but is still rooting like crazy for the Jets to beat Saleh’s Titans in Week 1. Jerry arrived for his first update, but talk quickly derailed into Mumford & Sons playing MSG with Stella Lefty and the 'Jerry Recco Beach Party' instead of actual sports. Finally, the Atlanta Hawks closed out the hour with a schedule release video starring a kid who does incredible bird calls.
