During our tag we briefly Discuss Rainbow Rowell's comic book Pumpkinheads (2019), illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks. I mention that I read Eleanor & Park (2012). I read it uncritically and hadn't touched it since, which makes me mentioning it even more thoughtless. After recoring I read an article detailing the racism in Rowell's book, which is now being made into a movie. I want to be clear that we don't support Rowell and the racist and stereotypical depiction of Park in her book, and we will not be supporting her in the future. Below are some links to read more, including Wendy M Xu of Angry Girl Comic's review who was one of (if not the first) to call out Rowell's racism back in 2014.
