We all know people that in the past have been part of our faith circle that changed after a while. At one time their faith seemed to be on track, they held onto the core beliefs of Scripture and they shared our passion for church and for the mission of the church. But then they changed. They grew cold and distanced themselves from God’s Truth. 

Many no longer hold on to Biblical truth. Sometimes it seems as if everyone has his/her own interpretation of the Bible. It is not only the wolves (false teachers) who are to blame. Often there are real problems with the sheep themselves.

Galatians 1: 6 – 9 is key Scripture in this episode, “6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!”

Jesus is the Truth, The Holy Spirit reveals the Truth, the Bible is where we find the Truth and the Gospel is the Truth that we as believers carry out into the world.

Sadly, in the Church today, the Truth can be lost or even distorted. It can happen to and within individuals and within and to the local church or even a denomination. 

In Acts 20: 30 – 31 one reads, “Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard!”

It is important to protect your heart against the lies of false prophets during these strange times. Stand firm on the promises of God’s Word.

What is Truth?
The Bible is the only Truth.

The Word of God gives us the big picture. 

The Bible is God speaking and saying, “Here is the truth about life and death.”

The Bible reveals that it was never intended for there to be the spiritual chaos that we see around us.

It reveals that the Almighty God of the universe – the only true God, created all that we see and cannot see; and that when He created man gave him Free Will. There was no confusion, no misunderstanding. Everything God made was good.

In John 8:31-32 we read, “31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Will you lash out, rebel and blame, or will you seek out opportunities to do all things as unto Christ? Will you love rather than hate, forgive rather than blame and serve rather than stand on your rights? Will you embody the world or walk as Jesus did? 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matt. 5:44​-48 

 Steven Loots explores what the Bible has to say about suffering. 1 Peter 4: 12 – 19. In verse 19 we are reminded that we must stand firm in our faith amidst the suffering we endure, “So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.” 

 I pray that you and your loved ones will remember that you are the light of the world. We as believers have an opportunity to share our hope in Jesus Christ with those who are unsaved. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill can not be hidden. Matthew 5: 14 It is important to place your hope in Jesus during this challenging time. Reflect God’sglory in every situation in your life. 

 It is important to keep perspective during this unprecedented and challenging time. You serve a King and you are part of a Kingdom which transcends all others.

Today we are reminded of Philippians 3 verse 20 that says, “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,” 

Anxiety, stress, fear and worry are all very familiar to us all. These are our natural responses to circumstances which seem beyond our control and which threaten to overwhelm us. 

Philippians 4:7 explains that we as believers will find peace in God, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The peace of God and the God of peace will be with you. When? When you look to Him rather than to the circumstances of your life. Circumstances are opportunities to see God in action. When we have the right perspective and put our faith in God not in myself, or a politician or the world, God promises me His peace and His presence.

We are reminded of Philippians 4: 4 that says, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” 

This morning we are reminded of Jesus’ words in John 11: 25-26 “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

During this strange time, it is an honor for us to give back to you. Our CEO and Founder, Steven Loots, has recorded a church sermon John 16:33​ “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Remember that God is in control – He is always in control and we need to trust Him during this pandemic. He will get us through this. Use this time to reconnect with your family and loved ones. Strengthen your spiritual journey and relationship with God.
