Welcome aboard for this weeks Born Human podcast where this week we are privileged to be joined by Maurice Doyle. Maurice is father to three boys and has had a distinguished 30 year career in the drinks industry as an executive leader, pioneering strategies for some of the worlds biggest brands. Maurice is founder of Generous Spirits and is jointly responsible for MANual Reset, A programme designed for men to reset their relationship with their purpose, themselves, their work & key relationships.
In this episode we explore how Maurice coped with juggling a demanding career with fatherhood, and what he has learnt on his journey. In a world in which there are ever increasing demands on our time and more and more expectation to successfully juggle career with everyday life, Maurice's insight is an honest and introspective look at the realities of having a thriving career as a father, and how that shaped his uniquely people focussed views on successfully motivating people.
This episode was an absolute privilege to have the opportunity to record and Maurice's refreshingly human centric approach to business is an inspiration.
For all those trying to juggle successful careers with family life this is an absolute must!

Welcome aboard the good ship Born Human where this week we explore single parenthood with the wonderful Amy Bullman. Amy is proud Mum to two girls, host of the Mum & Mummer podcast and talks to us about her decision to take on single parenthood for her own mental health and to find the best future for her children.
In this episode we explore the challenges of single parenting, mental health and resilience, the courage to listen to your instincts and why difficult decisions are sometimes the right ones despite the obstacles.
I took so much positivity from this conversation and for anyone else embarking on single parenthood I'm sure Amy's honesty and reflections will give a perspective that we can all take something away from. I know I certainly did.

Welcome aboard the good ship Born Human for episode 3 of these incredible journeys in parenthood. This week we are graced with the presence of Mr Ben Akers. Ben is father to 3 children and is the film maker responsible for the award winning documentary STEVE. Ben lost his childhood best friend to suicide in 2014 and as a result set out to make STEVE with one goal, to save one mans life. That documentary was the foundation stone for the charity he now runs called Talk Club, which is a mental fitness movement helping thousands of men around the globe to look after their mental well being.
In this episode we explore his journey in parenthood, what he's learnt in his quest to change the outlook for mens mental health, the importance of mental fitness, why mental health is such an important part of our children's future and how he juggles life to prioritise his family and the things that are important to him.
This really was an absolute joy of an episode to record and we could have talked for hours so I absolutely know you're going to love this one!

Welcome aboard the good ship Born Human for episode 2, where this week we are joined by Amy Williams MBE. Amy won Olympic gold in Vancouver in 2010 and as an elite athlete has since had to evolve her identity to everyday life beyond sport and as mother to her two boys.
In this episode we explore the role identity plays for all of us as humans and as parents, the misconceptions that being in the public eye can bring and how she overcame her own adversity in finding her place in the world beyond sport.
In a world where the media presents us with a utopian understanding of what it is to be a celebrity, this was a fascinating conversation which gave an insight into Amy's approach to her own evolving identity, highlighting just how common our struggles can be as humans and as parents regardless of our achievements in life.

Welcome to the very first episode of the Born Human Podcast where in our first week of exploring parenting journeys we explore that age old taboo of male infertility. Alex bailey spent over a decade overcoming the odds on his journey to becoming a father but not without significant challenge and sacrifice.
Alex was candidly honest about his experience and in this episode we explore the highs and lows of IVF, mental health and resilience, the wonders of modern medicine and the challenges that still lie ahead.
An eye opening look at the realities of male infertility which we hope sheds some light on this surprisingly common issue.
