He said that the liens had been paid down, although he declined to say by how much, and that he was “current on all taxes” he was obligated to pay under settlement agreements with tax authorities.“We’re talking about old taxes,” he said, adding: We’re not talking about anything new. - Sen. Mary Landrieu's last-ditch effort to pass a bill approving the Keystone XL Pipeline fell one vote short of the 60 needed following an all-day debate Tuesday that touched both on the merits of the pipeline and Louisiana's Dec. 6 Senate election.

The final vote was 59-41.

Some viewed the vote as a last-ditch chance for Democrat Landrieu to close a gap with the favorite to win the run off -- Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge. And Republicans were quick to say the defeat showed that Landrieu clout falls far short of what she's been telling voters.NOL

As the nation waits to hear whether a Missouri police officer will face charges for killing unarmed teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., the FBI is warning law enforcement agencies across the country that the decision “will likely” lead  to threaten and even attack police officers.Philadelphia Police Chief Charles Ramsey said people in “communities of color” often “don’t view us as people who really have the right to enforce laws or tell them what to do,” and sometimes it’s because of “the way they’ve seen us conduct ourselves in the past.”

 Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, who declared a state of emergency before a grand jury decision on a police-involved shooting case in Ferguson, stumbled today trying to answer whether the buck stops with him on any response to new protests. He was asked if it was his ultimate responsibility how any protests are policed. This is what he said: "We're, um, you know, it a, you know, our goal here is to, is to, keep the peace and allow folks' voices to be heard.abc News

Rushing to help their candidates before the Dec. 6 Louisiana Senate runoff, Democratic leaders in the Senate and Republican leaders in the House are moving legislation to advance the Keystone XL Pipeline.
