Jerry Pippin pays tribute to his long time friend of 60 plus years, Jerry Wilhite. Wilhite passed away on Thursday night ( April 21, 2011) They met as children in Sunday School in Church, attended high school together, and stayed involved in several business ventures, many friendship activities and for the past decade, Wilhite 's life took many turns but at one time he was a very successful businessman and always looked for ways to help out his fellow man.

Twenty years ago, Troy Davis was convicted of murdering a white police officer. Since then, seven of the nine witnesses recanted their statements, new witnesses have come forward identifying another man as the murderer, and the alleged murder weapon has still not been found.

Despite these new developments, the state of Georgia is putting Davis on track to be executed -- perhaps as early as next month.

The Pickens Plan is an energy policy proposal announced July 8, 2008 by American businessman T. Boone Pickens. Pickens wants to reduce American dependence on imported oil by investing approximately $US1 trillion in new wind turbine farms for power generation, which he believes would allow the natural gas currently used for power generation to be shifted to fuel CNG trucks and other heavy vehicles. Pickens thinks that his plan could reduce by $300 billion (43%) the amount the country spends annually on foreign oil

Billy Bang, a violinist whose gritty, expressive and spirited playing earned admiration in contemporary jazz circles, died on Monday at his home in Harlem. He was 63(New York Times).

He was born in Mobile, Ala., on Sept. 20, 1947,  Harlem as an infant and studied violin in school and took up drums and flute independently. He attained Stockbridge prep school in Massachusett with Jackie Roberson' son.

The House of Representatives approved the $3.5 trillion GOP blueprint 235 to 193 after final debate was repeatedly interrupted by protesters chanting and singing in the gallery. Four Republicans joined all Democrats in voting “no.”  on Friday was crafted by Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). Republicans have dubbed it “The Path to Prosperity.”

President Obama at George Washington University proposed to cut the deficit by $4 trillion in 12 years by reducing entitlement programs, including Medicare and Medicaid and to Social Security.He is calling for tax increases for people making over $250,000 a year and change parts of the tax code he thinks benefit the wealthy.

Tim "Who" Pawlenty, said Wednesday that he opposed the spending agreement that was reached late last week between President Obama and Speaker John A. Boehner.,the $38 billion cuts in this fiscal year were insufficient.

‘Birther’ myths debunked

In his letter to the New York Times, Trump raised other questions that have already

been answered by either PolitiCact or FactCheck.org. The New York Times did not

provide an annotated guide to this hooey, so here are the relevant links.

“His grandmother from Kenya stated, on tape, that he was born in Kenya and she

was there to watch the birth.” False: On the tape, there was initial misunderstanding but then she said he was born in Hawaii.

“His family in Honolulu is fighting over which hospital in Hawaii he was born in — they just don’t know.” Another myth with no basis in fact.

“He has not been able to produce a ‘birth certificate’ but merely a totally unsigned

‘certificate of live birth’ — which is totally different and of very little significance.”

Wrong: It is signed and has full legal significance.

“There are no records in Hawaii that a Barack Hussein Obama was born there.”

Wrong again, there is plenty of evidence.

“As far as the two notices placed in newspapers, many things could have happened, but some feel the grandparents put an ad in order to show that he was a citizen of the U.S.” Oops, the information was provided by the State Department of Health — not the grandparents.
