  • The Whitehouse Pressroom
According to three senior officials on the transition team, a plan to evict the press corps from the White House is under serious consideration by the incoming Trump Administration. If the plan goes through, one of the officials said, the media will be removed from the cozy confines of the White House press room, where it has worked for several decades. Members of the press will be relocated to the White House Conference Center—near Lafayette Square—or to a space in the Old Executive Office Building, next door to the White House.Reporters have had some sort of workspace at the White House since Teddy Roosevelt's time, but the current press room is an artifact of the Richard Nixon era, the dawn of the symbiosis of the press and the modern presidency. The "room" is actually a space containing work stations and broadcast booths, as well as the briefing area that is so familiar to viewers of presidential news conferences.Esquire

  • The Trump Infomercial
Trump has promoted and patronized his own properties, from riding down the gilded escalators in Trump Tower as he announced his campaign in June 2015 to hosting primary-night news conferences at lavish Mar-a-Lago and reimbursing himself with campaign cash spent to fly on his own 757 jet and rent premium campaign office space inside his flagship building. And while Trump won’t meet his infamous 2000 prediction — “I could be the first presidential candidate to run and make money on it” — he does seem determined to ensure that the national spotlight that remains fixated on him helps brighten the Trump Organization’s bottom line.Politico

  • Hello Chicago Farewell DC
“After my election, there was talk of a post-racial America. Such a vision, however well-intended, was never realistic,” he said. “For race remains a potent and often divisive force in our society. Now, I’ve lived long enough to know that race relations are better than they were 10, or 20, or 30 years ago — you can see it not just in statistics, but in the attitudes of young Americans across the political spectrum. But we’re not where we need to be.” President Obama in Chicago One of America's most Segregated cities

  • GOP Attcks Working People in Kentucky
House Bill 1 will let workers avoid paying union dues even if they get the benefits of a union-negotiated workplace contract. House Bill 3 will repeal the prevailing wage, a minimum salary paid to construction workers on local government projects. And Senate Bill 6 will require workers to “opt in” to having union dues withheld from their paychecks.Taken together, these bills will make life tougher for blue-collar workers in Kentucky, protesters said Saturday.
“It’s an attack on the working people,” said Chris Kendall, 44, a member of Local 184 of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union in Paducah.“It’s almost like we’re the enemy somehow, that it’s the politicians against us,” Kendall said. “And all we’re trying to do is earn an honest day’s wage. Bruce Rowe, a Pike County truck driver who belongs to Local 14581 of United Steelworkers, “This will just be awful for our communities. Once you cut our pay, your tax base goes down, and we’ve got less money to spend at Wal-Mart and buying cars and getting groceries for our families and shoes for our kids.”kentucky.com
