  • The Cost of Women's Reproductive Rights
The economic security of women and families is directly tied to a woman’s access to reproductive health care.  As the United States Supreme Court said, “The ability of women to participate equally in the economic and social life of the Nation has been facilitated by their ability to control their reproductive lives.”   The decision whether or when to have a child is one of the most important economic decisions most American women will make. It has implications for a woman’s financial well-being, job security, workforce participation, and educational attainment.National Women's Law Centre
"This is a huge victory for the women of Texas and so many states that were really suffering under these trapped laws. But we have an ongoing fight in many states, especially around a affordability. This is about making the right to reproductive access a reality in practice, not just on paper. And if you can’t afford to exercise this right, it’s really not as meaningful to you".Sandra Fluke

  • Elizabeth Warren for VP or Not
Big Wall Street donors have a message for Hillary Clinton: Keep Elizabeth Warren off the ticket or risk losing millions of dollars in contributions.
“If Clinton picked Warren, her whole base on Wall Street would leave her,” said one top Democratic donor who has helped raise millions for Clinton. “They would literally just say, ‘We have no qualms with you moving left, we understand all the things you’ve had to do because of Bernie Sanders, but if you are going there with Warren, we just can’t trust you, you’ve killed it.’”Most big donors don’t want Warren on the ticket because she is the most accomplished anti-Wall Street populist in the Democratic Party Politico

  • The Family Farm Lives on in North Dakota
In 1932, North Dakota law barred nonfamily corporations from owning farmland or operating farms. But that changed in March of last year when the state Legislature passed a bill that would relax the corporate farming ban and Gov. Jack Dalrymple signed it into law.The North Dakota Farmers Union, which opposed the bill, responded by gathering more than 20,000 signatures to force the measure onto the statewide ballot. The union has spent heavily on mailers and television ads in recent weeks and recruited more than 1,000 volunteers to make phone calls and knock on doors to drum up support.Measure One was defected by 75% of voters.
