  • November 22th 1963
Crowds of excited people lined the streets and waved to the Kennedys. The car turned off Main Street at Dealey Plaza around 12:30 p.m. As it was passing the Texas School Book Depository, gunfire suddenly reverberated in the plaza.
Bullets struck the president's neck and head and he slumped over toward Mrs. Kennedy. The governor was also hit in the chest. The car sped off to Parkland Memorial Hospital just a few minutes away. But little could be done for the President. A Catholic priest was summoned to administer the last rites, and at 1:00 p.m. John F. Kennedy was pronounced dead JFK Library
Veteran Journalist Jerry Pippin reviews the events of the that day and the Warrent Report on the assassination of President Kennedy.

  • The Koch Spy Network
The political network helmed by Charles and David Koch has quietly built a secretive operation that conducts surveillance and intelligence gathering on its liberal opponents, viewing it as a key strategic tool in its efforts to reshape American public life. The operation, which is little-known even within the Koch network, gathers what Koch insiders refer to as “competitive intelligence” that is used to try to thwart liberal groups and activists, and to identify potential threats to the expansive network.Politico
Former GOP chair Steele said, "the growth of the Koch network raises questions about “the relevance of the parties. And a lot of people answer by saying they’re not relevant anymore, which is why you’re seeing a lot of this activity outside of them. These organizations have the ability to raise unlimited money that the parties can’t. And at the end of the day, the party can’t compete with that.”

  • Ed Snowden Scapegoat
"To some people the whistleblower Edward Snowden is a hero; not to me. It is pretty clear that his bean-spilling has taught some of the nastiest people on the planet how to avoid being caught; and when the story of the Paris massacre is explained, I would like a better understanding of how so many operatives were able to conspire, and attack multiple locations, without some of their electronic chatter reaching the ears of the police. I want these people properly spied on, properly watched – and I bet you do, too". Boris Johnson
Whistleblowers are always accused of helping America’s enemies (top Nixon aides accusedDaniel Ellsberg of being a Soviet spy and causing the deaths of Americans with his leak); it’s just the tactical playbook that’s automatically used. So it’s of course unsurprising that ever since Edward Snowden’s whistleblowing enabled newspapers around the world to report on secretly implemented programs of mass surveillance, he has been accused by “officials” and their various media allies of Helping The Terrorists Glenn Greenwalt

  • The Louisiana Gubernatorial Runoff
From the primary election to the runoff, early voting has increased 47 percent among black voters and 30 percent among white voters. Early voting has also jumped in a number of the larger urban areas -- Caddo/Shreveport (109 percent increase), Orleans (98 percent increase) and East Baton Rouge (88 percent) -- according to Couvillon. That would appear to be good news for state Rep. John Bel Edwards, the Democratic candidate for governor, rather than U.S. Sen. David Vitter, the Republican. Edwards has also been ahead in recent runoff polls. But experts and political operatives warned against drawing too many conclusions from preliminary early voting turnout. The runoff election is a different story. It's expected to be a close election, and Democrats have efforts underway to get people to participate in early voting. The Democratic Party says it has people in every parish working on early voting efforts. After the primary election, the Edwards campaign even said it expected voter turnout to be higher overall in the runoff.NOLA.com
