Job’s suffering had reached a point where he “loathed”his life (Job 7:16). Hopelessness surrounded this man of God, and he simply did not understand why he was suffering so terribly. Life was so miserable for Job that he did not want to go on any longer. His life was quickly passing by, andthere seemed to be no end to his pain and tragedy. What Job longed for was life anew. He needed to be “born again.” This brings us to the third “R” of the gospel: Regeneration. The word regeneration refers to the new birth, what Jesus termed as being “born again” (John 3:3). Now that we have been redeemed from sin by Christ and reconciled to the Father by His death on the cross, we need to be regenerated, or born again. Without being regenerated, which is to call on Christ in faith and repentance, we will remain separated from Him. As Jesus said, “unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). The new birth is what it means to be saved. When we were born, we were born into sin. This is why we need to be “born again,” or regenerated. Let us take a look once again and see that Christ is the answer to all suffering and holds the keys to eternal life. Regeneration is what we all need. Life anew is life eternal, and Jesus is the only way out of the suffering we face. Jesus was the answer for Job, and He is the answer for all of us.
