"HEADS UP! BIG TIME SUPERHERO COMING THROUGH!"
After many moons of waiting, Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto's brand new Ultimate Spider-Man comic is finally arriving in just a few short days. Despite the shared name, it's looking to be a far cry from the pop-soaked edge-sharpened world that Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley spearheaded back in 2000, yet we can't help but look back on the original comic that shaped modern Spider-Man as we know it (for better and for worse). For many, this comic gave readers the easiest and most accessible look at the crazy life and times of Peter Parker, and the boys were no exception. So, to celebrate the launch of a brand new and wildly different era for the character, tune in as Alec and Brian go back to the original Ultimate Spider-Man comics, from the origin to Clone Saga, and see how well it holds up today!
SO LONG, 2023!
Our first full calendar year of the show has come to an end, and it's been a crazy ride so far! We've had a whole lot of fun this year, and we can't wait to keep the train going into 2024. So, to wrap up this monumental and unprecedented year, we thought we'd look back at some of the biggest things we've covered this year, moments on our shows, things we didn't get to yet, etc. So, come join Alec and Brian for their first year-in-review episode of the show!
FROM DAVID TENNANT TO DAVID HOMEOWNER.
The Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials have finally come and gone, the Fifteenth Doctor has finally grace our screens, and Ncuti Gatwa's first full episode is only ten days away. However, to say that none of this has gone the way anyone expected would be a massive understatement. Ever since the release of The Giggle six days ago, fans have been fractured and confused over what RTD's new lore developments exactly are, as well as what it means for both David and Ncuti. Well, let us take a stab at it. Come tune in as Alec and Brian look at recent news, as well as detailing all their thoughts on the 60th Specials and beyond!
WE WERE BUSY IN THE AMAZON WITH HER MOM WHILE SHE WAS RESEARCHING SPIDERS RIGHT BEFORE SHE DIED, OUR BAD.
We're finally back from our holiday break! You know what that means: a news-focused episode so we don't have to pick a topic! A whole lot's happened in the past few weeks since we last recorded, from project announcements, to castings, to trailers, and more rumors than you can shake a stick at. So, tune in as Alec and Brian go over as much of it as humanly possible as they discuss all the news we've missed, from the hilarious Madame Web trailer all the way to CM Punk's shocking return to WWE!
"FOR YOU. FOR ALL OF US."
As we talked about last week, Marvel's Disney+ shows have been, for the most part, a middling experiment. Each one seemed to have issues out the wazoo, whether it be writing, concept, editing, cut scenes, effects, direction, and more, there hasn't seemed to be a single one that wasn't troubled. However, despite being some people's least anticipated show, it was Loki that became the exception. Now that Season 2 has ended, along with the entire show as a whole, it's time to take a look at what made it work where others faltered or failed. So, tune in as Alec and Brian dive deep into all twelve episodes of everyone's favorite God of Mischief and Stories, Loki!
OH BOY! TWO WHITE DORKS GIVING THEIR THOUGHTS ON MARVEL STUDIOS! HOW INTERESTING!
In case you've lived under a rock, the house that Kevin built isn't exactly on the most solid of foundations currently. Projects are getting scrapped or restarted entirely after filming, others are in production hell, and the ones that are getting released (aside from obvious exceptions) are going to show that Disney's crown jewel is beginning to lose its luster. With budgets inflating, VFX artists getting overworked to the bone just to get lackluster sequences and visuals done on time, and blooming reliance on nostalgia to keep the audience, it's time to take a closer look at the menagerie. So, tune in as Alec and Brian do something totally unexpected and never seen before as they discuss the state of affairs of the Once-King-of-Hollywood, and how things can turn around!
THE RETURN OF BOULDER PITCH!
Now that our Spider-Man game saga is over, it's time to move on by... talking about Spider-Man. Oh boy. Like any other fans, the boys have their own ideas and desires for where Tom Holland's take on the wall-crawler goes next after the events of No Way Home. Some very similar, others very, very different. So, long after they shared their ideas for the new DCU, come join Brian and Alec as they both share their pitches for Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 4 and beyond!
WE MADE IT, EVERYONE!
One year ago, we kicked off our show talking about one thing in particular: our excitement over the next Spider-Man game, and our frustration in waiting to hear anything about it. Well, an entire year and fifty episodes later, we have both finally played the game from start to finish. And to be honest, we have too many thoughts for just one episode. So, before they delve into the main story, tune in as Alec and Brian discuss gameplay, side missions, the open world, and more in Part One of our spoiler-filled review of Marvel's Spider-Man 2!
"I LOVE YOU."
Long before the release, fans were already nervous and debating about where the direct sequel to 2018's Spider-Man would go, especially in regards to the seemingly-upcoming main villain, Venom. Now that it's out, despite widespread acclaim and praise, the story has become somewhat divisive amongst comic fans. The boys are firmly in the camp of loving it, but what exactly makes it the ultimate Spidey tale in their eyes? Tune in to find out as Brian and Alec delve deep into the main story (and all the spoilers within it) of Marvel's Spider-Man 2!
"THAT GUY? HE'S OUR SPIDER-MAN."
After the release and massive success of Marvel's Spider-Man, Insomniac Games got to work on its full sequel, as well as a spin-off game to not only tide fans over, not only serve as a launch title for the brand-new PS5, but to also develop and shine a spotlight on one of Marvel's most beloved characters: Miles Morales. Despite being a shorter entry, Miles's first solo game takes great strides and improvements to create something wholly new from what was built up before. So before we all play Marvel's Spider-Man 2, how did its most recent predecessor turn out? Tune in as Alec and Brian dig deep into their last Spidey game before the new one, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales!
