Despite now being 60 episodes deep into this show, we've barely scratched the surface when it comes to discussing actual comic books outside of Spider-Man. So, for a massive change of pace, we decided to shift focus to a completely different type of character and book altogether. With Jed MacKay and Alessandro Cappuccio's run still going strong, we thought it'd be hight time to look back on a slightly older run that shook the foundation of Marc, Steven, and Jake forever. After its new take on the Clone Saga storyline, Bendis's Ultimate Spider-Man grew more and more inconsistent. The final years of the book felt like it was pulled in many different directions, from Ultimatum supposedly being the end, then Hickman's new Ultimate Comics bringing Peter back, then him being killed off for real less than two years later, the book never seemed to get a proper throughline to resolve itself. Now, thirteen years later, Hickman's taking another stab at the concept of an Ultimate Universe, and his flagship book with a radically different Peter Parker has just begun. So, tune in as Alec and Brian wrap up their retrospective of 1610 Peter Parker, as well as diving into the first issue of the highly anticipated Ultimate Spider-Man by Jonathan Hickman!

After many moons of waiting, Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto's brand new Ultimate Spider-Man comic is finally arriving in just a few short days. Despite the shared name, it's looking to be a far cry from the pop-soaked edge-sharpened world that Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley spearheaded back in 2000, yet we can't help but look back on the original comic that shaped modern Spider-Man as we know it (for better and for worse). For many, this comic gave readers the easiest and most accessible look at the crazy life and times of Peter Parker, and the boys were no exception. So, to celebrate the launch of a brand new and wildly different era for the character, tune in as Alec and Brian go back to the original Ultimate Spider-Man comics, from the origin to Clone Saga, and see how well it holds up today!

SO LONG, 2023!

Our first full calendar year of the show has come to an end, and it's been a crazy ride so far! We've had a whole lot of fun this year, and we can't wait to keep the train going into 2024. A whole lot's happened in the past few weeks since we last recorded, from project announcements, to castings, to trailers, and more rumors than you can shake a stick at. As we talked about last week, Marvel's Disney+ shows have been, for the most part, a middling experiment. Each one seemed to have issues out the wazoo, whether it be writing, concept, editing, cut scenes, effects, direction, and more, there hasn't seemed to be a single one that wasn't troubled. However, despite being some people's least anticipated show, it was Loki that became the exception. Now that Season 2 has ended, along with the entire show as a whole, it's time to take a look at what made it work where others faltered or failed. In case you've lived under a rock, the house that Kevin built isn't exactly on the most solid of foundations currently. Projects are getting scrapped or restarted entirely after filming, others are in production hell, and the ones that are getting released (aside from obvious exceptions) are going to show that Disney's crown jewel is beginning to lose its luster. With budgets inflating, VFX artists getting overworked to the bone just to get lackluster sequences and visuals done on time, and blooming reliance on nostalgia to keep the audience, it's time to take a closer look at the menagerie. So, tune in as Alec and Brian do something totally unexpected and never seen before as they discuss the state of affairs of the Once-King-of-Hollywood, and how things can turn around!

Like any other fans, the boys have their own ideas and desires for where Tom Holland's take on the wall-crawler goes next after the events of No Way Home. One year ago, we kicked off our show talking about one thing in particular: our excitement over the next Spider-Man game, and our frustration in waiting to hear anything about it.
