On this episode with Mellody Hobson we emphasize the importance of financial literacy, its role in establishing wealth and security, and why so few people engage in the stock market.
We also reflect on her personal definition of success, making sure our memories aren't bigger than our dreams, as well as taking time to pause during times of great pain and anguish to reflect on what the universe is trying to teach us.

Mellody Hobson and I discuss a number of influences and experiences that got her to where she is today. She is the President of Ariel Investments, Vice Chair of the Board of Starbucks, Chairman of After School Matters, and, amongst other things, was named to TIME's 100 Most Influential People list.
We touch base on her upbringing, how she went from intern to president, the impact fitness has on her life performance, her peerless work ethic, her marriage, circle of friends, as well as the realization that everyone doesn't want what she wants. Truly a FORCE and an insightful listen.

Following our first interview we had to talk about what's really real. We highlight the inherent inequities that still persist in America and how we can move forward and potentially come together to solve them. We go about it from all angles. Biases, accountability, crabs-in-a-barrel mentality, the need for allies, and how the the progress may be slow, but progress nonetheless.

On this episode with Robbie Robinson, Partner at BDT Company, we discuss how the most meaningful part of his journey was his LOWEST point. It was in that moment, with the support of his wife, he realized that he was here for a reason.
I think THAT part is so important. We all have a low point and we don't allow ourselves to honestly reflect on what it means, what should I be learning from this, what am I meant to do next. Don't live in your low point, learn from it.
We also emphasize how Gratitude really is the key to us living a life of purpose. It is something that is always available to you no matter how bad any situation may be. It is also a PRACTICE. It isn't always easy to be grateful or to choose gratitude but it is our responsibility if we want to maximize our possibility.
