HOW TO GET YOUR GREEN CARD THROUGH MARRIAGE In short, you need to show a bureaucrat at USCIS that your marriage isn’t fraudulent or, in other words, that you didn’t get married just to get a green card. And you do that by submitting a lot of persuasive evidence that your marriage is in fact bona fide and legitimate, such as: * a joint lease, rental agreement, mortgage or some other proof of living together * photos of your wedding, and other photos of the two of you with family and friends * shared bank accounts, credit card accounts, or other financial accounts * statements from close friends and family members who can attest to the legitimacy of your marriage * shared life and/or health insurance policies; * birth certificates of children you had together (if any), * a pre-nuptial agreement, or * anything else you can muster up to show that you have a shared life together as a married couple.
