This episode I catch up with Blain Swanson. Blain lives in Minnesota like me, but lives and hunts quite a bit farther north than me. He had success on two deer so far this year after a grind of a season. We get into the stories behind those two deer, plus dive into late season tactics and setups for those of us who live in the frozen tundra. It was great catching up with him!
As always, this episode is brought to you in part by the Push Archery Center of Knowledge. Awesome courses to make you a better archer and hunter. Check them out at www.thepusharchery.com

Friend Jim Dussias recently moved from the Miami area to North Carolina. We haven't really talked at length since I went hog hunting with him in Florida earlier this year. We catch up on his move, how his season is going and general bowhunting conversation. Always great talking to him. Also, check out Jim on his YouTube channel, "Mangroves to Mountains" and also on his podcast of the same name. Thanks for listening!

In light of a recent tragedy in the saddle hunting world, I felt it was imperative that I did a detailed podcast on tree stand/saddle safety and self recovery techniques. No better person to discuss this with than Cary Gibson, a 20+ year professional arborist. We talk about everything from how to climb, the best equipment to use, how to set a tree stand safely and what techniques and equipment you need with you to get yourself down safely from a tree when something goes wrong when you're 18 feet up. Take this stuff seriously folks! You'll have to excuse the audio on this one as Cary's connection cuts out quite a bit, but I felt it was supremely important we get this information out there. Thanks for listening and STAY SAFE!

This episode I speak with Tracey and David Balowski of St. Joe River Bows. Tracey and David produce beautiful longbows and recurves for the whole family, including a line of youth bows - one of which my own daughter has and loves. They are passionate not only about hunting, but also about promoting traditional archery and spending family time participating in the sport of archery. We did have technical issues (on my part) so the audio isn't the greatest at times, so sorry about that. Regardless, I had a great conversation with them and I hope it won't be the last. This is a two-fer episode. I talk to Cary and Mindy Gibson. Cary is a traditional bowhunter and arborist by trade. His wife Mindy is relatively new to hunting in general, but has quickly taken up the passion. We get deep into tree stand and saddle safety, including climbing, descending, knot tying and self-recovery. Mindy has recently started St. Lawrence Traditional and has become a highly talented and respected string maker in a very short time. It was great getting to know Cary and Mindy. Great, informative episode!

In this episode I speak with Travis Shirer of Ohio. Travis is a lifelong hunter with a passion for the outdoors. He is part of "Shedding Light Outdoors" YouTube channel, where he and a few other passionate hunters put out hunting content. We dove deep into a lot of topics on this one and certainly could have filled several more hours worth of conversation. Hunting history, the trails and tribulations of hunting with a stickbow. shooting techniques, hunting styles and filming. So glad to have Travis on and I look forward to having him and the "other" Travis on the podcast after hunting season.
