BraemarCast: The Podcast of Braemar Baptist Church

We're continuing to explore the book of Psalms in our series "Psalms For All Seasons." Psalm 23 is one of the most well-known passages in the Bible and it explores the familiar concept of shepherds and sheep. Pastor Kent will be unpacking it in a sermon titled "The Shepherd's Psalm" as we consider how it applies to our lives today, and how it can be a deep source of comfort and peace, no matter what our circumstances might be.

The book of Psalms is one of the most relatable books of the Bible, as it reflects the entire range of human emotion, from joy and thanksgiving, to lament and hopelessness. Pastor Kent is leading us in exploring the sixth "I Am" statement of Jesus this week as we continue in our series "Seven Sayings of Jesus: I Am." Jesus delivered a very personal three-part statement to his anxious disciples when he declared: "I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life." Jesus' words gave them direction, clarity and a place to place their confidence and trust, and it can do the same for us today.

Pastor Kent is back this week as we continue in our series "Seven Sayings of Jesus: I Am." The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ is a core belief of the Christian faith and without that, the promise of our own eternal destiny also comes into question. It's critical then for us to recognize that Jesus declared: "I Am the Resurrection and the Life." We need to develop an anchored understanding of that reality, and what it means not only for the end of our lives, but for the hope that we can have in each moment.

We're continuing in our sermon series “Seven Sayings of Jesus: I Am” this week, exploring the theme of sheep and shepherds, as we recognize that Jesus refers to himself as "The Good Shepherd." Aren't all shepherds technically "good"? What does the goodness of Jesus mean for who he is, and how does that shape our relationship with him? Pastor Kent will be leading us as we consider this together.

Sheep, shepherds, and what they represent, are familiar themes that are found throughout the Bible, so it's significant that Jesus declares himself to be "The Gate for the Sheep." We'll be seeking to understand what this means for who Jesus is, and what this means for us as individuals, as we continue in our sermon series “Seven Sayings of Jesus: I Am” this week.

Whether it comes from the sun, headlights, a lamp, or another source, light is an important factor in our lives that we can’t live without. Pastor Kent is continuing in our sermon series “Seven Sayings of Jesus: I Am” this week as we consider that Jesus refers to himself as “The Light of the World.”

As human beings, we tend to place a lot of importance on our identity and how that shapes and defines us. Jesus said a lot about his own identity throughout the Bible, but especially in the book of John. It's important to understand what Jesus said about himself, as that also directly impacts our own identity if we call ourselves his followers. Pastor Kent will be leading us in exploring these sayings together in a new sermon series called "Seven Sayings of Jesus: I Am", beginning this week with "I Am: The Bread of Life."

Pastor Kent is wrapping up our sermon series “Resurrecting Hope: Overcoming Life's Greatest Challenges” and our sermon is titled "Unity in Him." We've been recognizing that the resurrection of Jesus is so much more than an Easter-only event, and that amazing truth can bring hope to so many areas of our lives. But perhaps one of the greatest ways it brings hope is in the potential we have to be unified as Christians serving God's purposes together.
