BraemarCast: The Podcast of Braemar Baptist Church

We're concluding our series on "The Parables of Jesus" this week as we consider the parable of The Talents. The word "talent" has a different meaning for us today than it did in Bible times, but Jesus' message is just as important today as when he first told it. Join us as we consider what we have been given and how God is calling us to use it.  To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com

What does it mean to be forgiven or to forgive someone else? These seem like basic concepts but it's important to recognize that our willingness to forgive someone else who has wronged us isn't always equal to the forgiveness another human being has extended to us, let alone God. Pastor Kent is back this week as we continue in our series "The Parables of Jesus" and explore the concept of forgiveness through the parable of The Unforgiving Servant.  To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com

Dr. Jerry Shepherd from Taylor Seminary will be our guest speaker again this week as we pick up with part three of our four-part summer sermon series in the Psalms. While the Psalms are filled with prayers of thanksgiving and praise to God, they are also filled with words of lament and crying out to God, and we’ll be considering that this week as we learn “How to Cry the Psalms.” Our focus will be on Psalm 88 and the Psalms of Lament.  To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com

There are generally consequences to every decision we make in life, but there is only one situation where those consequences are eternal. Pastor Kent sheds some light on this as we continue in our series “The Parables of Jesus” and explore the parable of Lazarus and The Rich Man. To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com

As we've learned over the course of our sermon series on "The Parables of Jesus", some parables are shorter and may not be as familiar to us, and that may be the case for you with the parable of The Two Debtors. Pastor Kent will be unpacking this relatively brief but impactful parable in which Jesus contrasts the behaviour of a religious leader and a prostitute...his conclusions may surprise you! Pastor Kent is back this week as we continue our sermon series on "The Parables of Jesus." The Good Samaritan is likely one of the best-known parables Jesus told and its theme of caring for one's neighbor is familiar to and resonates with most people. But what does it mean to love our neighbor, and how do we know who that person might be? Join us this week as we explore that together. To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com

We’re continuing in our four-part summer sermon series this week, exploring the book of Psalms together. As we learned last week, there are helpful ways we can view the Psalms as we read them and seek God’s truth for us that is woven throughout the book. This week we’ll consider “How to Pray the Psalms” as we recognize the powerful prayers that are contained there and how we can pray them for ourselves. Our focus passages this week will be Psalms 2 & 22. To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com

Have you ever considered the book of Psalms in the Bible or thought about how beautifully it captures the human experience? Our guest speaker Dr. Jerry Shepherd from Taylor Seminary joins us this week to start a short four-part summer sermon series in the Psalms. This week we’ll begin by considering “How to Read the Psalms” and we’ll be focusing in Psalms 1 & 2. It will be a great time of digging into this amazingly rich and wonderful book together! To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com

How’s your prayer life these days? Knowing that God is your source for everything, are you persistent in prayer? As we continue in our series “The Parables of Jesus” we’ll be considering the idea of being faithful and persistent in prayer, as Jesus encourages us to be in the parable of The Unjust Judge.   To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com

We can all relate to the emotions and tension of waiting for something in our lives. What are you personally waiting for right now? Are you waiting passively, or preparing while you wait, anticipating what is to come? We'll be looking at Jesus' parable of The Ten Virgins this week, considering what it means to wait wisely as Christians, as we continue in our series "The Parables of Jesus."  To learn more about us, visit www.braemarbaptist.com
