I had the pleasure of interviewing Professor, Psychologist, and author of Beauty Sick, Renee Engeln, Ph.D. We had a chat about how branding feeds the beauty sickness in our culture and how to fight back. Branding runs the show when it comes to beauty sickness and body image...but as usual, there is hope.
“It's hard to change the world when you're so busy trying to change your body, your skin, your hair, and your clothes. It's difficult to engage with the state of the economy, the state of politics or the state of our education system if you're too busy worrying about the state of your muffin top, the state of your cellulite or the state of your makeup. There is work to be done in this world. Leaving the world in better shape than how you found it is more important than the shape of your body.”
