On the morning of May 21, 2024, the Blaine County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office, executed a search warrant west of Watonga at County Road 820 and 2490. This property had been under suspicion of criminal activity for over two years. The Sheriff’s Office coordinated with the AG’s office and, with the assistance of agents specializing in organized crime, the operation was successfully carried out. This marks the beginning of our efforts to combat illegal marijuana cultivation in our county. I would like to express my gratitude to the three district county commissioners for their prompt response and assistance in removing the plants for destruction. Their employees played a crucial role in making this operation possible. Throughout the investigation, I have communicated with several neighbors about these suspected illegal operations, though I have been unable to disclose many details about the ongoing investigation. I want to emphasize that Attorney General Getner Drummond is deeply committed to the welfare of our state's citizens and has assembled an exceptional team capable of providing the necessary resources to combat criminal activities. I also extend my thanks to all of the Blaine County Deputies and investigators who worked behind the scenes to initiate this project. In conclusion, I want to send a clear message that our vigilance will continue. We have established a partnership with a dedicated team that will relentlessly pursue those involved in illegal activities. If you are engaged in such activities, it is in your best interest to leave Blaine County or be prepared to face the consequences enforced by the Department of Corrections.
