This week we welcome Ozarks Bluegrass favorites, The Pam Setser Band!

 

Pam Setser Band, featuring Pam Setser, along with Danny Yancey, Beci Coffey and Kent Coffey specialize in folk, country, gospel, and bluegrass music.

 

Pam Setser is an award winning, multi-instrumentalist.  She

has played at many venues including, Silver Dollar City, The Louisiana Hayride, Hee Haw, The Ralph Emery Show, Jay Leno, You Can Be A Star, not to mention playing in Washington D.C. for President Clinton and won 3rd place in the National Wrangler Country Showdown at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.

 

Pam has performed with Grandpa and Ramona Jones, The Whites, Joni Bishop, singer/actress Mare Winningham. Setser was part of the White River Hoedown, River Rats, Homemade Jam, and the radio show "At Home in the Country" which was broadcast on Public Radio. She performs regular at the Ozark Folk Center, Mellon's Hole in the Wall Theater, and Mountain View Meeting place in Mountain View, as well as venues around the United States.

 

Pam performs as a solo artist, or with groups Pam Setser Band, Apple & Setser, Leatherwoods, Ozark Granny Chicks and Pamela G & Jackie B.   Setser plays the Mountain Dulcimer, Guitar, Autoharp, spoons and sings.

 

Danny Yancey learned to play the banjo as a child from Earl Scruggs. Danny spent 28 years playing music in Branson, Missouri, with 10 years as Band Director at Grand Country.  He has backed several Nashville stars, playing shows with Tom T Hall, Connie Smith, Johnny Russell, Wilburn Brothers, Johnny Cash and many others. In recent years Yancey played the Grand Ole Opry with Billy Dean. Danny is an outstanding musician playing Banjo and Pedal Steel, adding depth and variety to the music.

 

Beci Coffey grew up with lots of music in her home. Beci has played in several bands over the years, one being the Buffalo City Ramblers. Beci has taught music in school, plays Piano and Bass. Having Beci in the band is always a plus, her lead vocals and harmonies add much to the band's dynamic.

 

Kent Coffey has played music since he was a young boy. Kent has played in several bands over the years, The Coffey Brothers,The Tennessee

This week we welcome Doug Brewin as Alan Jackson, from Legends in Concert at the Dick Clark American Bandstand Theatre.

 

The man behind Legend's Alan Jackson, is a humble soul named Doug Brewin. Like most high caliber musicians, Brewin got his start early in life. Starting out on piano, Doug also received training on drums, trombone, and the guitar. With his mother teaching piano lessons out of the house, Doug grew up amidst music and has continued to surround himself with music since.

His first attempt at being a professional musician was with a band that he started in high school. Lo and behold, that band continued playing until Brewin reached 35 years of age. While Brewin developed his stage presence and musical act with his locally popular band, Alan Jackson's world famous career also started to take off. By the time Jackson's second album came out, people were regularly commenting on Brewin's uncanny similarity to the country music star. Then, what started as a casual incorporation of Jackson's songs into Brewin's band's act, turned into an audition for Legends in Concert.

Starting in 2004 and continuing to the present, Doug Brewin has been performing as Alan Jackson for the Las Vegas Legends show. Still working with a band of his own, Brewin now rocks the house as both Jackson and himself. Because for him, "being a musician is probably one of the best jobs in the world." Brewin's performance of Alan Jackson regularly impresses long time fans of Jackson's work, but more than that, he leaves a favorable impression of the country music star to people new to his work.

This week we welcome Branson entertainer, Kenny Parrott!

 

Born in Burlington, Iowa, Kenny has been playing guitar since the age of 12.  He's performed numerous professional appearances with Grand Ole Opry stars, toured the US and Canada, and has made many television appearances.

 

Kenny moved to Branson in 1986. He joined the Buck Trent Morning Show in 1993.   

Buck Trent calls Kenny, "Branson's Finest Country Singer", and Kenny lives up to title when he performs his tribute to country greats such as Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Roger Miller, and more.

Branson historians will remember Tonya & Tammy's start in show business by performing with their family, the Baldknobbers, in the late 70's and early 80's.  The ladies also have a gospel trio, The Bilyeu Trio, with their brother Jamie. who also serves as pastor of Riverdale Baptist Church in Nixa, MO, where their late father served as pastor for 38 years.  Although Jamie is legally blind, and in spite of his visual handicap, his spiritual sight is strong!   The duo also spent over a decade performing as the "Stutterettes" with Country Music legend, Mel Tillis.

This week we welcome, star of the Grand Ole Opry,  Mary Lou Turner!

 

Born in Hazard, Kentucky, Mary Lou Turner began her career as a Country Music Artist in 1974 with her first popular song, All That Keeps Me Going.  She followed that success with several other songs that reached the top 50 on the U.S. Country Charts, including It's Different With You, Love It Away, and Cheatin' Overtime.

 

Though a star in her own right, she may be best known for the duets she sang with Bill Anderson.  The duo teamed up to produce hits in the top 25 on the U.S. Country Charts, including I'm Way Ahead of You and Where Are You Going, Billy Boy.  The pair released Sometimes in 1976 which reached Number 1 on the Country Charts.  That same year, she and Bill also released That's What Made Me Love You reaching number 7 with that hit.

 

Mary Lou has performed in the theaters of Branson, Missouri for many years.  She starred with both Boxcar Willie and Buck Trent, before joining the Grand Ladies of Country Music Show.  She and her husband, David, call the Ozarks home.

And we also welcome, our friend and star of Hee Haw, Lulu Roman!

People know LuLu as the most requested female cast member of the long running hit television series, "Hee Haw".  Many know her as the accomplished and celebrated songwriter; and as the singer who has been successfully making records for over 25 years.

In 1999, LuLu was inducted into the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame.  In 2002 Lulu's 16th album, a collection of hits and favorites called "Lulu, Inspired" was nominated for a Dove award.   LuLu has just completed a new project entitled "At Last". The album features 12 of her favorite standards and classics, such as "I Will Always Love You", "Summertime", "You Don't Know Me", "Til I Can Make It On My Own" and the title song, "At Last". LuLu's dear friends Dolly Parton, T. Graham Brown, Linda Davis and Georgette Jones also joined her on the album. 

 

In addition to "Hee Haw", LuLu has also been a guest star on such television programs as "The Love Boat" and "Touched By An Angel". She is also an accomplished author including a cookbook "Kitchen Komforts".   She recently release her autobiography "This Is My Story, This Is My Song."

Although she has been performing for over 40 years, she has no plans to rest or retire. LuLu continues to travel sharing her testimony, her humor and her music.  LuLu is also a honorary member of the Grand Country Wild Bunch!
