 We also welcome a special friend of Grand Country, Beverly Oliver! 

 

She is a published author, lecturer, gospel singer and professional ventriloquist.  Beverly was also a first hand witness to one of the darkest moments in American history, the assassination of President Kennedy in 1963.   One of the enigmatic figures in Dealey Plaza that fateful November day was "The Babushka Lady," so named because she wore a scarf much like a Russian grandmother would wear.   She was filming the motorcade, with an amateur movie camera.  She can be seen clearly on the Zapruder film and also on various other movie films and still photographs taken in Dealey Plaza.   

 

Beverly was a technical advisor for the 1991 movie, "JFK", starring Kevin Costner.  A small portion of this move is part of Beverly's amazing story.  She is available with her power point presentation for lectures in High Schools, Universities, Libraries, and wherever people are interested in this unanswered side of American history.  Her lecture is a tribute to JFK's legacy, dream for global peace, and belief that America owes its allegiance first and foremost to God.  She is also the author of "Nightmare In Dallas", which shares her perspective of that fateful day in Dallas, and her testimony.  She will have copies of her book for sale following the late show, and will be happy to autograph them.

 

She is married to Evangelist Charles Massegee and ever since then they have traveled as

a team singing and preaching the gospel of Christ around the world. 

Charles also has an amazing presentation on the book of Revelations.  It's normally a four-day presentation, however he's condensing the presentation into four-hours for a special session in Branson. 

 

He will be at Grand Country Music Hall on Sunday, March 5th doing a "Revelation Marathon" from 6-10pm.  This will be an exciting night of learning.  You'll want to make your plans to attend.

This week we welcome from the Showboat Branson Belle:  Janice Martin! 

  

 

Janice Martin is a world-renowned talent whose high-flying theatrics have been applauded around the globe.

Janice is a graduate of Indiana University and The Juilliard School of Music. A pianist since the age of 4 and a violinist since age 5, she went on to become proficient on numerous instruments, making her solo violin debut at Carnegie Hall in 1998.

Janice Martin is a multi-dimensional artist with amazingly varied talents. In addition to her virtuosity on the violin and piano, Janice also plays trumpet, mandolin and banjo and possesses a stellar soprano voice.

She has received numerous honors throughout her career including the Career Award Grant by the National Endowment for the Arts, top prizes at both the Washington International and Young Artist International Competitions and was a recipient violinist of the Stradivari Society of Chicago which provided her with a 1708 Stradivarius violin for her to play in concerts for 5 years.

And this week is a double header with our second guest, Mary Duff!

Mary Duff has been at the top of the European Country music tree for more than three decades, enjoying the appreciation of audiences worldwide as part of Daniel O'Donnell's show (now in its 24th year).  She is a very familiar voice and face from Norway to New Zealand!

 Mary first got the chance to showcase her talent at just 12 years of age when, quite by chance, her father heard her singing on a home tape recorder, he invited Mary to sing with his band at weekends and once Mary finished school she became a regular musical figure around the County of Meath in many bands including a three year stint with the busy "Jukebox".

Later, Mary won The Sunday World Nationwide Talent Competition, attracting the attention of Sean Reilly who became her manager. Soon after, Mary signed to Ritz Records and was offered the special guest slot on Daniel O'Donnell's first UK concert tour. 23 years and many album and DVD releases later, Mary remains Daniel's special guest and this August she embarks on yet another world tour.

Despite having received multiple music industry awards over the years, it is the 1990 Meath Person of the Year accolade which Mary is most proud of amid an array of highlights including a 2004 Live broadcast with Daniel O'Donnell recorded as a PBS Special in America with a registered audience of 66 million viewers!!  In 2011 Mary fulfilled a lifelong dream performing at the Ryman Auditorium a.k.a. 'The Grand Ole Opry'.

International stages have beckoned with several solo tours of Australia, New Zealand and the USA.  In 2013 Mary celebrated 25 years in the music industry and was awarded 'Female Vocalist of the Year' at the prestigious Sunday World Irish Music Awards and was also honoured as 'Grand Marshall' at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Drogheda, Ireland.

Mary performed for the first time in Sri Lanka in 2014 and returned in 2015, to sell out shows.  A hectic schedule is already underway in 2016 with an Irish and UK Spring tour with Special Guests Kathy Crinion and Jordan Mogey and a brand new label (ISG Records) and a brand new all original album "Changing Lanes" out in May 2016. Mary then rejoins Daniel O'Donnell once again as his special guest when he returns from his sabbatical to commence a massive year-long, world tour in August.

This week we welcome from Legends In Concert:  Larry Turner, as George Strait! 

  

Larry Turner grew up playing music, and started playing professionally in 1976, receiving nine years of vocal training along the way.  Rather than focusing on country, he developed his talent as a gospel singer. 

As part of a gospel quartet, performing as a soloist and lead singer, Turner's group played for eleven years in the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri.  It was in this capacity that Larry met and performed for George Strait's father.  Shortly thereafter, Larry and his wife came to see Legends in Concert, and that's when Turner realized he could have a career wowing fans as a George Strait tribute artist.  Whether you are familiar with George Strait's music or not, when you see a performance from Larry Turner, you're bound to be impressed.
