Little known Zerubbabel has been promised that names for the Messiah will be pronounced upon him in the final shaking day in which the Messiah will set up his rule of everlasting peace. What did this mean to Zerubbabel in his day- What should it mean to us in ours-

When a person attest to their own goodness they are usually expressing their self awareness of themselves reflecting that they are made in the image of God. For the same reason people know that they love, know that they are moral beings etc. These are expressions of the Divine nature in fallen people. We should concede the point. However, it is not this goodness that shows up in evil people that determines their destiny. It is that they have become evil -are spiritual lepers- that bares in upon their future and defines their destiny. It is this condition that can only be addressed through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
