Michael White fell in love with an Iranian girl. He picked romance, left for Iran and went to be with his wife. Until the government of Iran took Michael's arrival as a bad thing. He was arrested and charged with crimes, including offending the Ayatollah. Michael was convicted and sentenced to prison. He appealed that decision and was sent back to prison with more crimes! It appeared that Michael would perish in prison. Cue COVID and President Donald Trump's State Department. This experience interacting directly with the Iranian government provides us with unique insight into how the IRI government operates. Hemispheric defense updates during the Trump Administration have caused a realignment of strategic partners. In particular, the US had gathered Central and South American countries. These updated partnerships have refounded the US' hegemonic status. With greater influence over Greenland the US can protect and project to the north and check the advances of adversaries on the other side of the globe.
