It was a wild 2024 for the Break80 Podcast. We will do a quick recap for the year, including our best and worst moments, how our handicap and games are doing and some of the big moments from the year.

This week, The Match returns and it is heading to Las Vegas with a star studded lineup. Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka from LIV will be playing against Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler from the PGA at Shadow Creek.

If you haven't heard, Shadow Creek is the most expensive green fee in America and is kind of geared towards high rollers and celebrities when they are in town, but a couple of the Break80 Podcast guys have played it and are here to tell the story.

Mike and Tim are joined by Chris Eikenberg, who setup the trip and we will be talking all about our day trip to Las Vegas and playing Shadow Creek. From the limo ride to the course, the service at the course and of course the golf course itself, which is a marvel of engineering, we cover it all for you on this episode of Travel Talk.

Mike and Tim were joined by Kevin Norby of Norby Golf Course Design to talk golf course architecture. Norby Golf Course Design has done some exceptional work around the United States, including The Club at Golden Valley, Minnesota Valley Country Club, Fox Hills, Coal Creek and many others.

Kevin dives into his background, including getting into the business almost by accident and how that has become his career of now more than 30 years. With this experience, he has many stories to tell about how golf course architecture has changed and what the future may have in store.

The invention of professional skateboarder, Justin Eldridge, Number Thirty Three's golf tee toothpick ads an essence of cool back into golf. A mixture between the 1980s tough guy and a new age wave of streetwear into golf, No. 33 packaging says "GOLF WITH FLAVOR."

The tee comes in 5 available flavors or in a variety pack. Eldridge is also expanding into apparel with different drops planned for 2024/25 that will bring his unique California skating style into the golf community. The company has partnered with different courses, events and professional tournaments to bring a little flavor and has the ability to do custom taste experiences upon request (large orders). Whether it is the apparel or tee side of the business, No. 33 is sure to be a focus point on the first tee.

As Bandon Dunes makes the news this week for changing to a lottery system for getting reservations to the resort, Jeff and Mike are here to share their experience at Bandon Dunes. As part of a larger group this past July, the Break80 guys played all 7 courses and stayed on site.

In this episode, we will talk about getting to Bandon and planning for the trip, what to expect out of the resort and of course all the golf courses. We will give some rankings on the courses, how to handle the par 3 courses and some of our favorite holes and moments from the trip.

After releasing their top 100 overall courses last week, GOLF magazine is back with their 2024 top 100 public course list. We will discuss the list and try to determine which ones are overrated and which are underrated. Tim has played roughly half of these courses and will provide some insight into many of them.

Rory McIlroy won yet another DP World Tour title this week and we will talk about the possibility of him being the greatest modern European golfer ever. There were also 10 players that moved onto the PGA Tour out of the DP World Tour.

The PGA Tour heads to Sea Island, Georgia for the fall finale and the last chance for players to get into the top 125 and secure their tour card for next season.

Finally, has Charlie Hull come up with the answer for slow play in professional golf? We give our thoughts on this plague on professional golf and if her plan would work.

GOLF Magazine came out with their annual top 100 courses in the United States list this week. We will discuss many of the courses and ask the question... would Augusta National be in the top 10 if it wasn't for the Masters?

Pine Valley again is number one on this years list and we will talk about what sets it apart. A pair of Minnesota courses made the list with both Interlachen and White Bear Yacht Club in the top 100. We take a deep dive into which courses we think are overrated and which are underrated.

We will talk a little pro golf as well this week as both the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour are winding down their fall seasons and there are tour cards on the line.

Tim sat down with the Head Golf Professional, Superintendent and the architect that renovated the Club at Golden Valley on this profiles episode of The Club at Golden Valley.

Formerly known as the Golden Valley Country Club, The Club at Golden Valley changed their name as part of the re-opening this year. Kevin Norby of Norby Golf Course Design was in charge of restoring this A.W. Tillinghast classic in suburban Minneapolis.

Kevin did a masterful job on the renovation and in this episode he will talk about the challenges faced on the project and how great it turned out. Tim will start by digging into some history and we will hear from the superintendent and head professional about that history, and some complications finding some of the history due to clubhouse fires over the years.
