The Final Episode - We are done with Bowe/Bo/Beau. He has beaurd us to tears, so much so that we haven't produced an episode in over a month. Just haven't felt like it. But now Serial Seson 2 is done, and we are done with that part of our lives. Manuel calls in today to give us his final thoughts, and Katia is learning to potty like a big girl. We discuss possible future podcast themes, and El Chupacabra makes a brief appearance. All this and so little else, today on Breakfast Serial!

Hindsight Part 2 - The Boredom Continues... We are officially done with Beau. With Hajar and Manuel out for the day, there's no one around that thinks that any of his back story should garner him any sympathy with regard to court martial. Vidur joined us today for a deeply interesting discussion on reincarnation, we establish that Pop Tarts ARE a delicious breakfast food/snack item (despite the dubious opinions of our Russian komrade), and if you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, look at pics of baby animals all day long. #itworks

Hindsight Part 1 - The Upbringing... Thinking about Beau (wait, is it Bo? or Beau?) and his childhood and mindset makes some of us more understanding of his actions than others. Also, if Hajar and Manuel continue to be late to taping, then Katia and Matt will continue to have rambling conversations at your, the listener's, expense. Now that's funny "ha ha".

SPECIAL EPISODE - SERIAL, SEASON 1 Today we review Season 1 of Serial, discussing Adnan's case and the current review of the original trial that is taking place in Baltimore. Ashley and Bailey are back to replace (ever so briefly) a missing Katia. #fruitypebblesFTW

Returning to our discussions of Serial Season 2, we look at Sarah's zoomed in view of Beau's life when he first arrives in Afghanistan, and how the conditions and situations there are working into his decision to leave his post. We begin with a frank discussion of cereal choices, Chia Pets, and end on such high notes as murder plots in Disney movie favorites. Quite the insane spectrum for today's discussion, no? Also, a thousand apologies to Hajar for the constant ignorance regarding the pronunciation of her last name. For our second Special Edition episode, we take a look at everyone's favorite alleged serial killer, Robert Durst, as portrayed in the HBO docuseries, The Jinx. Hajar literally phones this one in, and tells us her bizarre theories about Bob. Manuel and Katia seem to think Bob is a psychopath, and Matt enjoys some delicious Apple Jacks. BREAKFAST SERIAL: SPECIAL EDITION

Today's episode will not be a discussion of the ongoing exploration into Beau's story from Sarah Koenig, but will shift gears to another case that has gained worldwide attention since its coverage in a documentary from Netflix, by Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi. Making a Murderer has seen daily headlines over the last month or so for its take on the case of Steven Avery. We've watched through the 10 episode docuseries and have invited some friends in for an open discussion on the topic of this docuseries. Joining us are Bailey Butzburger, Ashley Foerster, and Vidur Moudgil.

I'm also going to say "docuseries" a number of times, and type it a number of times here because I like that word. Docuseries.

Docuseries

Oh wow wow wow! The first episode of the year starts off with a HUUUUGGGEEEE surprise and delivers an exciting grand entrance from quite possibly the greatest Colombian since Sofia whatshername. Also, no actual cereal was harmed during the making of this episode.

For our third episode (and final episode of 2015), Katia returns from vacation with new references regarding her most beloved author, Ayn Rand, and Hajar gets all squee when Homeland is brought up. Manuel displays a particular interest in a certain medical procedure and Matt continues to confirm that he is just a really terrible person. Also, the bit about Ayn Rand being Katia's favorite author may or may not be true, but what we do know is she loves, loves, LOVES zippers. #YKK #HappyNewDay
