Former Moldovan intelligence chief Iurii Briceag has told the Kyiv Independent newspaper that if Ukraine is forced to give up substantial territory to Moscow, it could allow Russian forces to move into the pro-Russian breakaway state of Transnistria.
The fear is that if that's allowed to happen, Russian forces would move along Moldova's eastern border and potentially reach its capital "within days."
