With reciprocal US tariffs expected this week, Australia's beef and pharmaceuticals industries are believed to be in the firing line.

On this issue at least, both sides of politics claim they are on the same page, with the Coalition saying that there'll be no negotiating on issues like the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Meanwhile, the Coalition's been under continued pressure this week to release modelling backing up its claim that a gas reservation policy will drive wholesale prices down by the end of the year.

The Opposition is also promising to speed up the approval of new gas projects if it wins office and is also taking its nuclear power policy to the election.

And the Greens are proposing to spend one per cent of the federal budget on protecting the environment if they secure the balance of power in the next parliament.

The party is releasing its environmental policy, which also includes an overhaul of environmental laws, an end to native forest logging and a climate trigger for major developments.
