As Tropical Cyclone Alfred barrels closer to the Queensland coast,  Treasurer Jim Chalmers has assured he has been speaking with the CEOs of some of Australia's major insurers. 

It comes as a new report from the Australia Institute report shows one in every five homes is either uninsured or considered under-insured. 

Meanwhile, non-for-profit organisations working with people experiencing homelessness and sleeping rough are preparing for Tropical Cyclone Alfred's arrival.

And then we can't forget Trump... Donald Trump took 100 minutes to outline his vision for a second presidential term in what was the longest presidential address to the US Congress on record. 

Mr Trump declared that his administration is "just getting started" after weeks of slashing government jobs, reshaping US foreign policy and igniting a trade war with some of America's biggest trading partners.
