The swarm of podcasts and social media content about the election tells us Gen Z is switched on, but what about their older counterparts - Millennials? 

This is the first election where Gen Z and Millennial voters will outnumber baby boomers in every state and territory.

And while younger Australians who've just left school or are in university might be switched on to the campaign, older voters seem not to be as much. We're talking Millennials entering their 30s and early 40s.

New research from Griffith University says they're actually more disengaged than their younger counterparts. 

Meanwhile, the five-week federal election campaign is in its final days, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese embarking on a whistle-stop tour of six states.  

And evidence is emerging that a young Ukrainian journalist who died in Russian captivity last year, days before she was due to be exchanged in a prisoner swap, was tortured.

Viktoriia Roshcyna, 27, had travelled to Zaporizhzhia in Russian-occupied Ukraine, to report on the treatment of Ukrainians in Russian detention, but disappeared in August 2023.

Her mutilated body was among others returned to Ukrainian authorities in February.
