  • Breakout – A New Model for NASA

In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt discusses how

NASA, once the world’s model for innovation and the exploration of space, has
become so bureaucratized that it now serves as nothing more than another broken
government agency. If the federal government were actually serious about a revival
of NASA and our space program, it would create a prize model. With all of the money
our federal agencies waste on a yearly basis, it should instead entice entrepreneurs
to create solutions that restore the American space program to the position of
prominence it held for so many years. Companies like SpaceX have already begun to
reach into space, giving us a glimpse of what the future of space travel holds. In the 21st
century, it is likely that a company such as SpaceX will allow us to explore further into
space than we could ever imagine.

  • Breakout – A 21st Century Breakout in American Energy

In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt discusses how the

United States is poised to become one of the world’s top producers of energy,
specifically, a leading producer of oil in the near future. States like North Dakota are
undergoing an energy boom that has seen the unemployment rate in the state drop
to less than three percent. Thousands of people have flocked to North Dakota to take
advantage of the high paying jobs, many of which currently pay six figures per year and
up. The potential for a breakout in energy also leaves the United States less dependent
on foreign countries for sources of energy which will have implications on America’s
national security policies in the 21st century.

  • Breakout – Exploring American Exceptionalism

In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt turns the podcast over

to his wife, Callista. Callista gave a remarkable speech on June 4 to the Capital Speakers
Club of Washington, D.C. in which she discussed the importance of American exceptionalism.
Callista offered unique insight into how America became the remarkable country it is today,
and why it is imperative that all Americans, especially young Americans, understand why they
should be proud of their country. Callista has also written three children’s books for four to eight
year olds in which she describes the importance of American exceptionalism through her time
traveling character, Ellis the Elephant. Ellis helps to educate children about the importance of
American values and what makes our country a special place.

  • Breakout – Self-Driving Vehicles and the Future of Transportation

In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt discusses how self-driving

vehicles from innovative companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi and even Google are changing
the relationship that drivers have had with their vehicles for over a century. Self-driving cars and
trucks offer a future where driving is dramatically safer for people and better for our environment.
This innovation is also potentially useful to our military, which could integrate driverless technology
to transport materials around dangerous parts of places like Afghanistan and eliminate the risk of
injury or death to military members by using convoys where most, if not all vehicles are driven by a
computer rather than a human. Although this technology is still years away from being fully
developed and implemented, it offers us a glimpse of what our future on the open road may look like.

  • Breakout – Outbox Creators Evan Baehr and Will Davis

In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt interviews the creators

of Outbox, Evan Baehr and Will Davis. Outbox was created with the intention of allowing
people to digitally receive their mail being sent by the United States Postal Service using a
smartphone app. Receiving their mail through a smartphone would allow Outbox users to
have easy access to their bills, personal letters, and other important pieces of correspondence.
It would also allow them to ignore the large amount of junk mail many Americans see in their
mailbox on a daily basis. However, Evan and Will’s innovative way of allowing people to receive
their mail drew the attention of the prison guards at the USPS, who saw Outbox as a threat to
their outdated model of sending mail.

  • Breakout – Celebrating Four Popes

In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt discusses his trip to Rome

where he and Callista witnessed Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II being canonized as
saints. Pope Francis led the Mass, while his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI sat close by.
Pope John Paul XXIII called the Second Vatican Council in 1962, which led to reforms that
modernized the Church. Pope John Paul II was instrumental in the fall of communism in Eastern
Europe. In June 1979, he returned to his native Poland for nine days and celebrated Mass with
millions of his fellow Poles. His pilgrimage to his native country demonstrated to the Polish people
that they did not have to be afraid of their oppressive government and that God was always by their side.

  • Breakout – The Khan Academy Approach to Learning

In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt discusses how the Khan Academy is fundamentally changing

the way in which people learn. By allowing people to watch and replay video tutorials that teach math, history, finance, and many
other subjects, users are able to learn at their own pace and don’t have to worry about feeling embarrassed about replaying a video
multiple times if needed. The best part about Khan Academy is that it’s totally free. This new model has already had a dramatic effect
on the way that children and adults around the world are learning and provides a glimpse into what a 21st century education system
may look like if the concepts of the Khan Academy are adopted.

  • Breakout – Overcoming Bureaucratic Incompetence

In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt discusses how bureaucratic incompetence

and the outdated paper-based system that the Federal Government continues to use is preventing a breakout
that has the potential to save millions, if not billions, in taxpayer dollars. Companies such as American Express
and Visa are pioneers in monitoring and stopping fraud and abuse before they occur, saving their customers time,
money, and frustration. Should we not expect the Federal Government to maintain the same standards that these institutions do when it comes to spending our money in an efficient and responsible manner?

  • Breakout – DEFEATING THE FDA PRISON GUARDS

In this episode of the Breakout with Newt Gingrich podcast, Newt discusses how the bureaucrats at

the FDA continue to make life difficult for Americans who are dealing with life threatening illnesses by
denying them access to drugs that could potentially extend and even save their lives. It is clear that
the 108-year-old FDA bureaucracy is incapable of understanding a 21st century health system. We
must breakout and develop a pioneers of the future approach that removes the prison guards and
gives the patient and their doctor control over the decisions that will affect their life.
