Today, we are studying the twenty-first chapter of John.  Simon Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were hanging out fishing. Jesus appeared to them by the sea of Tiberias. Jesus called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” He gave them instructions which caused them to catch a large number of fish. Only one disciple recognized His voice, John. I believe John knew how to recognize Jesus’ voice because he was really close to Jesus. John 10:27 states, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

The purpose of pruning is to remove diseased, damaged, dead, non-productive, structurally unsound, or otherwise unwanted tissue from crop and landscape plants. God prunes us to remove the unproductive parts of our lives. We tend to focus on the so-called big sins, but it's the little foxes that spoil the vine. Certain things can keep you grounded in life. It may not be a sin, but is it beneficial for you?

Peace is the ability to stay calm on the inside when there is chaos all around you.  You can only maintain your peace if you allow the Holy Spirit to remind you of everything Jesus has said to you.Jesus rebuked the wind and told it, “Quiet, be still.” After rebuking the wind, Jesus rebuked His disciples. He said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14:27
