When God finally meets with His people at Mount Sinai, He tells them that they are His special treasure. Why? What makes them special? As we see why God calls them this, we should hear Him speak the same words of love over us. You are His special treasure too. But have you come to realize who you are? Not who the world says you are or who you say you are, but who God says you are?

Moses is doing it all by himself and his father in law comes gives him the advice that we all need a little help from our friends. As Moses learns what he needs to do to get help and refocus his life, we learn lesson on finding help in our lives and learning the right way to live in the moment for Christ.

Do you live life like you have won and are victorious or do you walk around with your head hung like you have been defeated? Because Easter and the Resurrection are the celebration of the victory Jesus Christ has claimed for us over this life and all its brokenness, darkness, and shame. As we read of Moses leading the Israelites to their first victory in battle and how God gives them victory there, we will hear of how we can walk through the valleys of this life with our hands held in victory, knowing in Christ Jesus we have already overcome whatever we face in the world.

As the cycle of complaining continues for the Israelites, we look closely at what exactly they are complaining about as they put God on trial. But God is not phased by our complaints or questions and He stands trial before them to answer all of their complaints and to show them how God He is. In doing so, we are reminded of how we find all that we need in Christ Jesus for what we are thirsting for.

On a journey through the desert, the Israelites find themselves hungry and questioning God about His provision. But God has a plan to meet that need in a miraculous way and to prove to them that He is the Lord. But should He have to prove that? Hasn't He already proved that? As we think of our own hungers and how we try to fill them with something other than God, we are reminded that Jesus had the same kind of doubters that didn't understand the glory of God in him to whom he promised that he was the Brad of Life. Discover in Jesus a bread that does not just satisfy the hunger in your heart for a moment, but promises that you'll never be hungry again.

After singing and dancing on the shores of the Red Sea, the Israelites meet their first obstacle on their journey to Mount Sinai. Like them, when we we experience anger and disappointment, we taste bitterness and this changes how we relate to God (and everything else). What does bitterness look like in your life? How does God respond to that bitterness? And how can you overcome it?

How do you celebrate your spiritual life? What makes your heart sing? Sometimes the circumstances of life distract us from what we have to celebrate. But as we see the Israelties standing on the OTHER side of the Red Sea and see them singing in dancing in celebration, we are reminded of all that God has done and is doing to deliver us victory in life. How is God giving you victory? And what do learn of who God is in your life through what He does for you?

In setting up the rules for the feast of Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, God reveals both how He is going to free the Israelites from slavery and gives us a sign about how He will eventually free us from slavery to sin. The blood of a lamb and getting rid of yeast serve as reminders for us of what the freedom we have in Jesus and the new life He has for us.

The stories of the plagues that God brings upon Egypt tell us of a powerful God bringing judgment upon the oppression of slavery that His people have faced. But why with plagues? Why these particular plagues? And why do they matter for our lives today?

For a moment when Moses showed up and told them about God's promises, the Israelites had hope that their slavery was over. But then life got even harder and their oppression grew and they gave up. Exodus 6:9 says they were discouraged. We've all been in that place where we've given up on life, where we are hopeless that anything can change, and where we lack the courage to do anything about it. How do you know that you are suffering from discouragement and what can you do to overceom it in Christ Jesus?
