Our Brewer and Scientist discuss the lifespan of yeast, how yeast change their behavior under new conditions, and the chemistry of converting sugar to alcohol.  We discuss the difference between lager yeast and ale yeast, demystifying the controversy. Yeasts are a variety of amazing organisms worth exploring in greater detail.

Not really, but how else would we get the bugs out and the hops in. The scientist and brewer are swimming in some hot water today with discussion about hops, hot water and getting a bitter wort made.

Sparge (a funny word) after mashing is important, as Forust knows. With so many ways to rinse sugar off grains its gonna take a whole episode, our longest yet.
