  • 50. Jarrod Montague (Taproot)
This week's guest is Jarrod Montague, drummer for Taproot.
Jarrod recently wrote a book called True Rockstars: 12 Guiding Principles for Success and Happiness. Like the book, we chat about Jarrod's time going to the University of Michigan and forming Taproot.
We take a deep dive into all things Taproot, and how the lessons Jarrod learned helped him in his career once he left the band.
There's great stories about Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit, the Deftones Jared Leto as well as what the future holds for Taproot.

  • 49. Andrew Michael Wells (Eidola/Dance Gavin Dance)
My guest this week is Andrew Michael Wells, singer for the band Eidola.
We get into a variety of topics from how Andrew got into music, and what growing up in Provo, Utah was like and how it shaped him as a person and as a musician.
Andrew and I also get into how Eidola was able to make a name for themselves in an area that doesn't really have an active rock music scene. What the Used's popularity did for bands trying to come out of Utah, as well as finding out how Andrew has been dealing with his recent diagnosis of Lyme disease.

Fallon Bowman returns for our monthly Deftones album discussion. This month we go over Saturday Night Wrist.
Another album that Fallon wasn't super familiar with, but provided some interesting perspectives juxtaposed against my decade long experiences with it.
Hear our opinions as we go track by track to determine where this album fits within the lineage of the Deftones catalogue and what we think the best song is.

  • 45. Jake Kiszka (Greta Van Fleet)
Jake Kiszka is the guest on this mini ep as I chat with him while Greta Van Fleet was on tour in anticipation of their sold out show in Grand Rapids.
This interview was done for a feature I'm still in the process of writing, so it's a little more Michigan centric than most of my other chats.
We delve into some of the bands songs and how they've morphed over the years and ended up on their newest EP, Black Smoke Rising. What working with Al Sutton was like, and how the sudden success of the band is from their perspective.

  • 44. Jason Schipper
This week's guest is my best friend, none of you know him, but this is a chat between him and I about how our 17 year friendship was spurned by a love of music, and being obnoxious teens who carried those 300 page cd binders around with us in school.
Over the years our friendship has seen us spend countless hours listening to all kind of music from the nu metal realm, until we moved to Lansing MI and each went down our own musical paths. I went more into the metal and hardcore scene that was starting to take shape in the early 2000's, while Jason went more into the punk world that was seeing its own reemergence as well.
Hear how while we've maintained our friendship, and sound like old jaded music people as we try and keep up with new bands and trends as best as 2 30 somethings can.
Intro Music: "Ambition" and "Chin Ups" by Chae Hawk
Outro Music: "Power Trip" by Chimiara

  • 43. Stu McCallister (Comedian)
My guest this week is Stu McCallister. Stu is a local comic that's been around for awhile and someone I've admired for being the face of our local comedy scene for a long time, from mentoring younger comics, to branching out and helping other creative individuals with their various endeavors.
Stu has his own podcast, LMNO Podcast that offers listeners a unique perspective on the goings on in Stu's life as well as his take on pop culture things.
We enjoyed a rather long chat that ranges from talking about how comedy specials are anything but anymore, how the comedy world is very akin to the music world. We also get into how I worked in a strip club as one of my first jobs and what it was like working as a social worker for Stu.
Had a fun time having Stu over at my place and doing a face to face chat, hope you do too!!

We also get into how Josh carved out a career playing bass for so many bands, and how his love of gear has helped him transition into teching for bands like Fall Out Boy and Kings of Leon and much more.

This month we get into the divisive Self Titled album from the band. We get into me having seen the band on this album cycle, how it mirrored a tour they just wrapped up over a decade apart. It's in this chat where Fallon and I start to have differing views on an album as a whole, find out why and find out how we came to pick our favorite song off of this album.
Join in on the discussion and hit up Fallon or myself across our various social media accounts and let us know what your favorite song is off this album.
