In one of the most dramatic passages in all the Bible, on Mt. Carmel Elijah confronted the idolatry and evil that was rampant in Israel. God demonstrated His power to draw His people to repentance and new life. As we prepare our hearts for Easter we recognize that many years later on another mountain, Jesus demonstrated the power of God for salvation. As Elijah headed towards confrontation with Baal at Mt. Carmel, God gave him encounters with two unlikely characters to provide for him along the journey.
