From Torn ACL to 4.7 DUPR: Pickle Li's Story + Tournament Film Breakdown (Big Right Adjustments)

In this episode, I sit down with Pickle Li (Randy), an Atlanta-based creator who found pickleball after tearing his ACL playing basketball and is now a 4.7 DUPR player aiming to make pickleball content full time. We talk through his path into the sport, his short-form content and YouTube work (including paddle reviews and tips), and his recent 50-pound weight loss driven mostly by diet. Then we review tournament footage where his team starts with a big lead before the opponents make a run, and I break down key tactical adjustments—especially when his cross-court opponent plays an unusually “big right.” We cover reset placement (middle vs cross-court), covering middle after cross-court returns, varying dink targets beyond the inside foot, taking more balls out of the air when targeted, and drilling cross-court neutral/slice and offensive dink options to open the court and reduce indecision.
