Our brains often interpret change as a threat, making us naturally resistant. However, change is both inevitable and necessary. So how do we handle The Challenge of Change? We must do so intentionally.

 As appropriate and expected as praying is – Jesus said, “When you pray, this is how to do it” – as appropriate and expected as giving is – in the same section Jesus said, “When you give, this is how you do it – so is fasting both appropriate and expected – again, in the same section Jesus said, “When you fast, this is how you do it.” Let’s conclude this message on Our Most Neglected Spiritual Discipline.

 In Ezra 8, Ezra proclaimed a day to be set aside for a fast among all the people. In response, God sent them one of the greatest revivals recorded in the Old Testament. As we continue to pray for revival, what do you think God might do in response if we sought Him through the discipline of fasting? Let’s look at this most neglected spiritual discipline in a setting where the Pharisees attacked Jesus’ disciples for, quote, “not doing it right.”

Welcome back to the conclusion of the message from Luke 5:12-26 entitled “STRANGE THINGS    ”.  Intercessory prayer has been called the highest form of prayer. That’s when you pray for someone else. You set your own needs aside for the moment and focus on what strange thing God might do in your friend’s life. That’s the example of prayer that leads to action and is found in the second part of our message on “Strange Things.”

When we step out on faith and follow Him, Jesus will reward us in ways that astonish us, just like He did with His disciples.

Welcome back to the second part of the message from Luke 4: 31-37 entitled “When the devil comes to church”.    There are a number of notable times that God’s people have been threatened by wicked people. Sometimes, even someone as strong as Elijah mishandles it, but sometimes people seek out a greater source of strength in the Lord and learn to handle those threats properly.
