Two landmark reports are about to be unveiled urging the sector to access the “untapped potential” of this group, talented people like Deaf and Disabled People in TV (DDPTV) founder Caroline O’Neill and Tim Renkow, the creator of BBC3 hit comedy Jerk. 

Caroline spoke to Max Goldbart last week about DDPTV’s Disability by Design report, which shows the distressing levels of discrimination and ableism faced by TV’s disabled community and issues a wealth of recommendations for how this can be overcome.

And later, Tim chats exclusively to Hannah Bowler about the second season of Roughcut TV’s comedy and opportunities for disabled people both locally and across the pond.

The UK government has again raised the spectre of selling off public broadcaster Channel 4 to the private sector, and a formal consultation announcement has sparked real concern that it could happen this time.

It is the show that has lit up the streaming world and as the second part of Lupin returns to Netflix, creator and screenwriter George Kay joins the Newswrap to give his take on the popularity behind the Omar Sy-starring crime-revenge caper, inspired by French literary icon Arsène Lupin.

Speaking to John Elmes from Paris, Kay reveals why the show pays homage to the US network shows of the 1980s and 1990s, and is deliberately aimed at capturing a family co-viewing audience.
