For nine years, Officine Zero has been pouring some of the south's best coffee.
While owner Claudio Casoni always wanted to do more with the venue, it wasn’t until he was able to take over the next-door shopfront that he could grow the business. Now Casoni has closed Officine Zero and officially reopened the space as Officina Gastronomica Italiana (OGI). Stop by for fresh rigatoni and enjoy a glass from the restaurant’s selection of Emilia-Romagna wines. Plus, the northside studio nailing waterless pedicures and colourful nail art.

Charlie Carrington has a lot of stamps in his passport. His restaurant, South Yarra’s Atlas Dining, is well-known for every three months completely changing the country and cuisine its menus take their inspiration from. In order to consistently pull off that feat, Carrington makes several international research trips each year. Little Havana is Charlie Carrington’s love letter to the Miami district of the same name. On previous visits to the Cuban-inspired area, he was drawn to its art, music, hole-in the bars, cigar-rolling stores and standout Cubano sandwiches. Now, he's making his own.

"Bread is like a sport: you have to practice every day if you want to go to the olympics".
There was a time when bread and butter was free at many Melbourne restaurants. Those days are long gone, with venues charging anywhere between $3 and $12 a serve. Broadsheet contributor Sasha Murray has crossed the city to try the starter in all its iterations (puffy, woodfired flatbread; stacks of fluffy focaccia, chunky slices of coffee sourdough) and joins Around Town to share why it's worth forking out for Melbourne's bread and butter.
