Broadway Block: a podcast about the New York Rangers

The New York Rangers sit themselves on the top of the league as one of the absolute teams to contend with right out of the gate. If you've been following the show, then you'll know this was certainly on our radar before the season began, as we were both of the mindset that this core still had quite a lot to prove. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't bet against Igor in the regular season of a contract year. He's playing the most inspired hockey of his career, and personally, I hope we back up the Brink's truck. He's worth every penny.

On today's episode, we catch up with Devil's beat reporter James Nichols, who shares with us his view on the Metro Division, the rivalry as a whole, and expectations for the young season as our teams take an early gap on the competition.

After a wild win to start the season and a rocky game to the surging UHC, the New York Rangers played a pretty good game against Detroit and sit at the top of the division- unbeaten in regulation. On paper, it's about as good of a start as they could have asked for, having outscored their opponents 15 - 7 with 11 separate goal scorers. On today's show we invite on  Matt Mugno, a writer for the Rangers with Forever Blueshirts, to discuss the highs and lows thus far, including Lafreniere's play, Igor Shesterkin contract extension talk, and potential dark horses to lead the Rangers this year.

At the time of recording this episode, there are just a few hours before the New York Rangers are set to drop the puck for the start of the 2024-2025 season. With a short off-season due to a lengthy playoff push, it seems like just yesterday we were all believing. To kick off the year, the boys invite on fellow NYR content creator Lou Orlando to discuss our takeaways from pre-season, and of course highlight what looks to be an incredible year for the Rangers. Lou currently writes for Forever Blueshirts, as well as play by play commentary for the Fordham Rams at Fordham University.

With the New York Rangers preseason officially underway, Joe & Steve break down the rollercoaster of emotions from the first two games, including injuries to Filip Chytil and Ryan Lindgren, as well as the dramatic comeback with 5 goals in less than 6 minutes. We got to see a few young Blueshirts step up in big moments, including Jones who scored on a breakway and on a big slap shot, and Mancini who made his name known to Rangers fans just a few days ago. Who will crack the lineup out of camp?
