6 years Ubuntu tried to drop support for multilib or the 32 bit libraries in 19.10 and that went badly, now Fedora Linux is trying to do the same as it's gaining tracking in the gaming space and Linux gamers are not happy.

If you were quick you may have seen an article from Linux Journal indicating that Arch Linux was adopting a Rust based init system, well this isn't real whatsoever and the article is almost certainly AI generated.

Systemd technically has dependencies on systemd but they weren't super critical and could be patched out but going forward that may be a little harder to do for the OpenRC distros and for the BSDs

KDE is doing quite well on the accessibility front but there's still quite a bit of work to do but more importantly there are some EU regulations coming into effect that are kind of forcing there hand.

17 years ago saw the launch of Wayland and since then we've seen various distros move over to Wayland, but Ubuntu has acted quite conservatively on this front and they're finally dropping X11 with the next release on the main version.

The other day I put a video out on the Xlibre fork of the Xorg project and there's a lot of opinions about this floating around, and now within the Xorrg project we're starting to see a lot of reverts for the changes the Xlibre dev, Enrico Weigelt brought in.

Freedesktop is a very important development space in the FOSS world and world of Linux but it's important to remember that it's not a standards body, it's just a collection of standards.
