As a drummer, Brooks has played in some of the most influential hardcore and punk bands of the '90s and '00s—Born Against and Universal of Armageddon chief among them. As a reader Brooks is omnivorous, but a youthful love of Shakespeare is a tentpole in his bibliophilic development.
