Somewhere Along the Way — When Did You Stop Being You?

When we were kids, most of us didn't need permission to be ourselves.

We played. We imagined. We explored. We laughed too loud. We dreamed without first asking whether the dream was practical.

Then, somewhere along the way, the world started handing us instructions.

Be responsible.
Be realistic.
Be successful.
Don't disappoint anyone.
Don't make waves.
Grow up.

And little by little, we learned how to become the person everyone else needed us to be.

But what happened to the person we were before all of that?

In Episode 3 of BRoS — Beaming Ray of Sunshine, we're gathering around the campfire again to talk about the space between who you were and who you became.

Not because the person you are today is wrong. You've lived. You've learned. You've survived things that younger version of you couldn't have imagined.

But sometimes survival asks us to put pieces of ourselves away.

And sometimes we leave those pieces behind for so long that we forget they ever belonged to us.

This episode isn't about reinventing yourself.

It's about remembering yourself.

We'll explore the expectations, labels, responsibilities, relationships, successes, failures, and life experiences that shape us—and ask a deceptively simple question:

When did you start believing you had to become someone other than yourself to belong?

Because resilience isn't always about becoming tougher.

Sometimes resilience is having the courage to come home to yourself.

So pull up a chair.

No judgment. No fixing. No ten-step plan to become a better human by Tuesday.

Just another conversation around the fire about life, identity, belonging, and finding our way back to the things that once made us feel completely alive.

Maybe there's still a ten-year-old version of you somewhere inside who remembers exactly what you've forgotten.

Maybe it's time we listened.

Episode 1: From Black Sheep to Beaming Ray

Welcome to the very first episode of BRōS (Beaming Ray of Sunshine).

Think of this podcast as a campfire—a place where stories are shared, wisdom is passed from one person to another, and we remember that none of us are walking this journey alone.

In this opening episode, I share pieces of my own story: feeling like the black sheep, the unexpected paths that shaped my life, and the experiences that taught me resilience, courage, baring my soul and the quiet power of choosing joy.

But this isn't simply my story.

It's an invitation to reflect on your own.

Together, we'll explore what it means to remember who we are beneath the labels, expectations, and hardships of life. We'll talk about resilience, healing, purpose, community, and the small moments that often become our greatest teachers.

I don't believe people need to be fixed.

I believe we all have an incredible capacity to remember the strength, wisdom, and light that already exist within us.

BRōS was created for anyone who has ever felt different, overlooked, lost, or uncertain of where they belong. Around this campfire, there is room for every story.

My hope is that each episode leaves you feeling a little more grounded, a little more hopeful, and a little more connected—to yourself, to others, and to the life you're creating.
