Finally, I take you behind the scenes of my very first Crowned & Renewed event. Although only 17 of the 47 registered attendees showed up, God reminded me that the people who were meant to be in the room were there. We reflect on the lessons learned, celebrate the incredible women and community partners who supported the mission, and talk about what's next for Brown Royalties as we continue building a bridge for women returning home from incarceration.

Although I was only two years old when he was murdered, and I have just one photo of us together, I've carried one belief with me for as long as I can remember: my father wanted me here.

I'll share how my first great loss shaped the way I've experienced every loss since, how it influenced the mother I've become, and why honoring those we've lost doesn't have to be rooted only in sadness—it can also be rooted in purpose, gratitude, and love.
