Our completely Easter-free podcast comes to you this week from the Blue Orange Theatre, where we talk to Micheal and Thom who this week launch a brand new night: The Kamikaze Club. Expect stand-up, music, people spinning cushions on their fingers* and other surprises. On this episode: Josh Howie (of Radio 4's Josh Howie's Losing it et al) drops by Paul's radio show to talk his upcoming glee gig (Thursday 2nd February), gigging in Birmingham and mining life's foibles for comedy material. And he also makes us laugh too. But then it's hard to get that across in a text description of an interview. Just trust us. Paul and Jacob also catch up with the latest Birmingham comedy news, events and gigs, or at least try to before sailing so far off topic they end up laughing about funerals. Well, that was Paul's nefarious plan anyway, Ben was far too nice, interesting and funny to fall for Paul's evil traps to generate podcast PR. But he is great and you should go to his night. And ask him why a lot of his improv analogies involved dead animals. Maybe. Also in this episode, Paul and Jacob talk upcoming gigs they're intending to go to (or just wish they could) and discuss the Midlands Comedy Awards, for which it is an honour just to be nominated. You know the drill by now, it's the shorter one where excellent podcast chaps Paul Hadsley and Jacob Lovick regale you with anecdotes, illuminate you with facts and in no way just waffle on about themselves for 20 mins. Brum is Funny is back before you were even ready for it. Well, become ready quickly, dear fan of local comedy, because here we are. This episode is recording amid the Birmingham Comedy Festival and that is still dominating the comedy scene in Birmingham, so we're probably going to talk about it quite a lot. We report back on gigs that have already taken place during BCFF (as all the cool kids call Birmingham Comedy Festival), throw forwards to those yet to take place and also preview the first ever Birmingham Improve Festival (BIF) the weekend afterwards We also interview sketch Comedy duo Dirty White Boys (DWB) ahead of their performance at the Old Joint Stock (OJS) And, as referenced by Paul, here is his interview on his radio show with another Sketch comedian, Linda Hargreaves who put on the Rice N Pea N Caviar showcase at the Old Joint Stock (interview starts at 5 mins 30 secs).

This is the bonus extra-cast to go alongside episode 2. It probably won't make too much sense listening to this first but we're not your mum, you can do what you want, listener. In this special bonus extra-cast, Paul and Jacob compete over which big-name comedian they have met since the last podcast. Jacob MAY win but it's a close run thing. Also over the short period of this extra slice-cast, oreos may be eaten in anger, Jacob's Edinburgh experience may be discussed and we may realise why Paul tells people in everyday life"Well, I wouldn't open with it!" Sorry for the abrupt ending, but the equipment used to record this episode sensed a good punchline that wouldn't be topped so shut itself off before we got to say goodbye.
