The Bruthas N Law are back and black and therefore, despite their desire to discuss last week's confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, they were forced to tackle a more pressing issue -- Should Will Smith have slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars? And if so, how many times and should he have used a closed fist?

In their riveting quasi-legal analysis, the Bruthas embark on a broader discussion of masculinity and the proper boundaries of comedy. In Episode 66B, you will hear their discussion of what transpired during the confirmation hearings.

As social distancing restrictions are relaxed, geopolitical tensions have increased with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Bruthas give their black-centric views on this international conflict and then, turn their attention domestically to discuss President Biden’s nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court. If confirmed, Justice Jackson will become the first African-American woman on the High Court.

That said, in a classic example of one step forward and two steps back, the Bruthas will also provide their legal analyses of two recent cases in which police officers were exonerated for their parts in the shooting of an autistic man’s caretaker and the brutal killing of Breonna Taylor.

In this episode, the Bruthas weigh in on the sentencing of former Minneapolis police officer Amy Potter for the killing of unarmed black motorist Daunte Wright. In doing so, the Bruthas analyze the judge's decision and critique her reasoning in reducing the officer's presumptive sentence from 6 years to just 16 months.

In this long-awaited return of the Bruthas, Jesse and Sean tackle the lawsuit filed against the NFL by a former coach detailing the league's dismal record in hiring black coaches. Furthermore, the Bruthas report on the $4 million verdict obtained by Cardi B in her lawsuit against a blogger/Youtuber who falsely accused her of having herpes (among others).

The Bruthas are black and they are back with a reboot of the podcast. With a renewed focus on the law, the Bruthas discuss the week's legal developments, including ...

(1) The free (hate) speech lawsuit filed by Trump against the social media giants for "deplatforming" him, and what to do about the threat posed by unregulated private companies controlling so much of today's communication networks;

(2) The indictments handed down against the Trump Organization and its CFO, and the future prospects of "getting" Trump;

(3) The overturning of Bill Cosby's criminal conviction and his release from prison; and

(4) The Supreme Court's ruling in the case of NCAA vs. Alston, the NCAA's lifting of restrictions on athlete's capitalizing on their name and likeness and what the future holds for college athletics.

In this episode, the Bruthas tell of the rise and fall of Derrick "Action" Jaxn, an Internet relationship guru who raise to fame and promise as a relationship expert, only to be revealed as a serial cheater. The Bruthas briefly recap his rise to prominence and fall from grace before dwelving into the deeper issues at play; namely, why are these type of scandals so common? Specifically, they attempt to answer these questions:

(1) Why is it only MEN who can't control ourselves? You never hear about rich and famous women screwing everything that moves?

(2) If you've got it going on, is it possible to be a "good man"?

(3) How do we, as men, raise sons that will be better than our janky asses?

The Bruthas recorded this episode on the night after the 2020 election. At the time, the race was still "too close to call" as ballots were being counted in key battle ground states. Yet, one thing was clear -- if Biden does win, it will be largely to the tremendous support from ... of course ... BLACK WOMEN. They turned out in records numbers and voted Democratic more faithful than any other demographic.

After discussing the results of the various state races and the current vote totals in those still undecided, the Bruthas turned their attention to the question of actually removing Trump from office should Biden reach 270 electoral votes. Trump has vowed to the fight "'til the end." What could that mean in practical terms in terms of his litigation strategy and what other desperate measures he might employ, including a possible subversion of the Electoral College by turning to "faithless electors"?

The Bruthas also discuss how to finally get some political gains in consideration of our crucial support for the Democratic Party. And finally, they address the black rappers who made their voices "heard" in the lead-up to the election; possibly (or maybe, even hopefully) for the last time.

In this episode, the Bruthas discuss the news that President Trump contracted the coronavirus; presumably at the announcement for his latest SCOTUS pick -- Amy Coney Barrett. The Bruthas also give a brief history of confirmation hearings and explain how it has become the modern spectacle that it now represents.

Finally, the Bruthas turn their attention to the elections in November and discuss the increasing problem of voter suppression and suggest remedies for alleviating the increased burden placed on blacks and others.

In this episode, the Bruthas are joined by fellow brutha-n-law attorney and comedian, Robert Jenkins, to discuss the decision to NOT prosecute the killers of Breonna Taylor. In this very candid discussion, the Bruthas attempt to process their thoughts on where do we go from here ... and ALL options are laid out on the table.

In this episode, the Bruthas commiserate about the shocking news of Chadwich Boseman’s death and fondly remember his incredible movie career playing such black icons as Jackie Robinson, James Brown, Thurgood Marshall and, of course, Black Panther. Wakanda forever! Also, the Bruthas say their goodbyes to legendary college basketball coach, John Thompson.

The Bruthas also discuss the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin and the after-effects it caused in professional sports; in particular, the short-lived NBA walkout. The Bruthas also discuss the role of President Obama in bringing the players back on the court and give some interesting perspectives on Obama’s impact as an elder statesman for the black community during the Black Lives Matter era.

The Bruthas also discuss the latest incident of a white woman attempted to pass herself off as black and debate the role that white allies play in black liberation. Furthermore, they discuss whether or not, the black community is doing enough to incentivize their participation in the struggle in light of the tremendous incentive that black folks are provided to uphold white supremacy.

Finally, we discuss the latest reports that R. Kelly was the victim of an assault while in jail awaiting trial. This prompts the beginnings of a discussion on the culture of toxic masculinity that produces men who view exploiting women as our “reward” for professional success.
