  • The Grand Riverbank Picnic
The crew of the S.S. Recycling Bin pulls ashore for a picnic beneath a willow tree — only to discover the riverbank is already booked. General Crumb and her ant colony have been planning their own thirty-seven-course picnic since Tuesday. With military precision on one side and cheerful hedgehog chaos on the other (including Chewy sitting on a freshly built twig bench), the two very different groups somehow share the afternoon and end up making unlikely new friends.
The S.S. Recycling Bin was, without question, the most magnificent vessel ever to sail a river. At least, that is what Chuck said every single morning. It was also, without question, the most overloaded vessel ever to sail a river. There were three loaves of bread from Mr. Bumberton's bakery. There…

  • The Floating Grocery Store
The S.S. Recycling Bin sets off on a sailing trip through Hedgehogtown — but Chuck keeps spotting things they simply cannot do without. A terracotta flowerpot for storage, a rubber duck for emergencies, a flat stone for sitting, a garden hose for practically everything, and three warm loaves of bread from Mr. Bumberton's bakery. Each new addition sits the boat a little lower in the water, until the rim is barely a hedgehog-finger above the surface. Somehow, impossibly, it floats. And from his perch on top of the whole glorious pile, Chewy spots something far down the river — somewhere they've never been. With his map unrolled, Chip points them straight toward it.
The S.S. Recycling Bin had never looked better. Its tree-sap patch was dry and firm, Chip's hand-drawn map was rolled up and tucked neatly under the bow, and the sun was doing that lovely warm thing it does when it wants everyone to go on an adventure. "Cast off!" called Chip, which is the very…

  • The S.S. Recycling Bin Sets Sail (For Real This Time)
The morning after the S.S. Recycling Bin's triumphant launch, the crew of three discover a very inconvenient leak. Luckily, Chuck spots something golden and gloopy on the old oak tree — tree sap, sticky and waterproof and absolutely perfect. With the hull patched, Chip unfolds his hand-drawn map and leads the crew downstream on their first real voyage: past the mossy stone fork, through a stomach-dropping stretch of rapids, and all the way to beautiful Pebble Bend. Along the way, each hedgehog discovers what they're best at — Chuck's gift for noticing things, Chip's talent for navigation, and Chewy's unmatchable ability to make everything feel like the best day ever.
It was the morning after the greatest achievement in Hedgehogtown history. The S.S. Recycling Bin — built from bottles, a wobbly plank, orange string, and pure determination — was tied to the edge of Mrs. Patterson's pond. It had floated. It had actually, genuinely floated. And somewhere in the…

  • The S.S. Recycling Bin
It's a perfectly ordinary Tuesday in Hedgehogtown — until Chip, Chuck, and Chewy spot a very smug duck on Mrs. Patterson's pond and decide they absolutely need a boat. Using bottles, string, a wobbly plank, and a tin of blue paint, the three friends set to work. Chewy manages to turn himself entirely blue, ties himself to the boat with orange string, and launches himself into the apple tree before construction is even finished. But with encouragement from Mrs. Patterson and a lot of determination, the S.S. Recycling Bin finally hits the water — and floats! The crew paddles in happy circles, the smug duck looks confused, and Chewy falls overboard with great enthusiasm. Nobody notices the tiny trickle of water creeping in at the bottom. Afloat, as Mrs. Patterson says, is afloat.
It was a perfectly ordinary Tuesday morning in Hedgehogtown. The sun was warm. The birds were singing. And a duck — a very, very smug duck — was floating on Mrs. Patterson's backyard pond as if he owned the whole place. Chip saw the duck first. He put his little paws on his hips and stared. "That…

  • The Hedgehog Marathon That Was Mostly Snacks
It's marathon training day in Mrs. Patterson's garden — or at least, that's the plan. Chip draws up a proper schedule, Chuck packs an extremely un-light bundle of running food, and Chewy ties leaves to his feet as faster shoes. What follows is one trip to the pond, a banana named Sir Yellowtop, a runaway gnome, and a finish line nobody expected. A warm and silly story about how going together matters more than going perfectly.
On Tuesday morning, Chip stood on an upside-down flowerpot with a leaf in his paw and a very important look on his face. "Today," Chip announced, "we begin marathon training." Chuck blinked at him. "What is a marathon?" Chuck asked. Chewy rolled onto his back in the grass and waved one foot in the…

  • The Great Hedgehog Rugby Match
You don't have to be good at someone else's game — inventing your own is even better, especially when you play it with your best friends.
It was a sunny Wednesday morning in Hedgehogtown, and Chip, Chuck, and Chewy were walking down Maple Street when Chuck stopped dead in his tracks. "Look!" said Chuck, pressing his nose against the electronics shop window. On the big display TV, a bunch of enormous humans were running around a muddy…

  • The Hedgehog Shuffle
Chuck spots a dazzling dancer on a TV in a shop window and decides he absolutely must learn to dance. Back in Mrs. Patterson's garden, Chip takes charge of lessons — but spinning, dipping, and jumping all go hilariously wrong for the three little hedgehogs. When Mrs. Patterson brings out her radio and tells them to just move however the music makes them feel, the trio invents their very own dance: The Hedgehog Shuffle. A joyful reminder that the best way to do something is your own way, especially with your best friends beside you.
It all started on a Tuesday afternoon, when Chuck walked past the electronics shop on Maple Street. Now, the electronics shop had a big TV in the window. And on that big TV, a man in a sparkly purple shirt was dancing. And not just any dancing. This man was spinning and sliding and dipping and…

  • The Great Pancake Disaster
Sometimes the simplest things are the most wonderful, especially when shared with good friends
The trouble started when Chuck the hedgehog decided he was, in fact, an EXCELLENT cook. "I'm making breakfast!" Chuck announced to his friends Chip and Chewy. "And not just any breakfast. The most AMAZING, most INCREDIBLE, most DELICIOUS pancakes anyone has ever tasted!" Chip looked worried. This…

  • The Home Improvement Heroes
Sometimes the best improvements are the ones that make you laugh and bring friends together
The trouble started when Chip the hedgehog was peeking over Mrs. Patterson's fence, watching her television through the window. On the screen, a cheerful human was transforming a dull room into something magnificent. "And now with just a few simple changes," the TV host announced, "your home can be…

  • The Great Hedgehogtown Mystery
Sometimes the simplest answer is right in front of us, and it's okay to laugh at our mistakes
The trouble started when Chuck found something VERY mysterious in Mrs. Patterson's garden. It was round. It was red. And it was absolutely, completely, one-hundred-percent impossible to figure out. "I," announced Chuck, puffing out his spiky chest, "am going to solve this mystery!" You see, Chuck…
